Just signed the papers on a new 2008 3500 DRW 6. 7L with G56 manual trans.

I didn't think I would buy another manual, but it shifts very nice and they finally fixed the stupid overdrive ratio that made a 3. 73 rear equipped truck cruise down the road like a truck with 4. 10's.

We are having EGT issues, bucking issues (with the Adrenaline removed), and coolant temperature issues with the 99 3500. . We are sick of it. Its to the point that we'll probably leave it in Montana and have it shipped back from WI.

Its not like we are towing heavy (14k tops). .

Diva finally said "this truck is a piece of *****, lets just buy a new one". .

She didn't have to tell me twice!

Did plenty of jewing on the price, they are trying hard to get out from under 2008 trucks!

They will be adding a bug shield, chrome gas door, and side steps tomorrow, along with the undercoating & paint protection package.

This is my first NEW truck, its an awesome feeling!

Welcome to the 3rd gen's, and that is a nice looking truck.

The 3:73 comment is strange though, because both of my trucks are standard transmissions. Look at my sig. , and the G56 and the NV5600 runs at 2050 RPM at 70 MPH? The G56 is a lot smoother than the NV5600 but that DMF is questionable.

Checked part# and it is an "AE" built in Nov of 2006, which makes since seeing how the truck was built in Feb of 07. The ratio's are different through the gears but in the end, both trucks run at 70 MPH at 2050 RPM. The first G56 introduced in later part of 05 had a higher 6th gear ratio than the "AE" G56. By the way congrats again on your new truck again.

Congrats.

Congrats on the 3rd. gen. I had lousy luck with my '99,but the '07 has been issue free thus far. The upgraded brakes and steering make it a much less tiring rig to drive.

I did not trade it off. I have WAY to much money in the truck to trade it in. I just don't think it would make it home. I have over 25k in the truck with trans and other goodies. It is sitting there until I can send someone to get it for me.

It is sitting in the caged area in a corner if you want to see it. . Its a black ex cab dually with bull-hauler stacks.

About the above post. . That is towing 14k. We basically ditched the 99 24 valve in Billings Montana and hooked the 08 up to the trailer and went home.

I can't believe the reduction in driver fatigue, it is a true pleasure to drive this truck/trailer combo. It should work tons better once I get the air bags in the rear to keep it more level... I have a lot of tongue weight with the bumper pull.
I'll post pics later.

Here is a picture of the truck and trailer:

Yes, it squats a bit, air bags are on the way!

Here is a pic of the old 99 24v in the kill pen:

I take it you didn't wait to start towing after the first 500 miles on the truck or limit your speed to 50 mph between 501 miles and 1,000 miles when towing ? :-laf

Nice truck... ... black is sweet when clean. Enjoy !
