I take it you didn't wait to start towing after the first 500 miles on the truck or limit your speed to 50 mph between 501 miles and 1,000 miles when towing ? :-laf

Nice truck... ... black is sweet when clean. Enjoy !

Greg

Nope, no 50MPH or mile limit here :)

We did alternate between 5 & 6th gear to vary the RPM's while cruising though.

MPG went up as it broke in. First 2 tanks were 8MPG. . last one was 9. 5mpg.

Haven't experienced a regen that I know of. . Almost 1300 miles on the odometer now.

About the above post. . That is towing 14k. We basically ditched the 99 24 valve in Billings Montana and hooked the 08 up to the trailer and went home.

I can't believe the reduction in driver fatigue, it is a true pleasure to drive this truck/trailer combo. It should work tons better once I get the air bags in the rear to keep it more level... I have a lot of tongue weight with the bumper pull.

I'll post pics later.
You're sure correct on the statement of less driver fatigue. I don't miss the drum brakes or the constant steering correction of my '99 4wd. Conversing without shouting to my passenger is a plus too. I would love a 12-valve in one of these for peace of mind though, but that's not gonna happen.

Congrats on the new truck Bobcat. Just a suggestion about the tongue weight, might try hauling the truck loaded rear forward. That's how I always haul vehicles on my flatbed, makes the tongue weight much lower and it rides considerably better. Hasn't ever created a stability problem either.

Might be an issue for the truck pictured as it has dual rear wheels. Most car haulers of this variety are generally 82" in width between the fenders.

Yeah true, next time I'll look at the picture with my spectacles on :-laf

The only other thought is how much hitch weight the stock receiver can handle.

I too sold off my 2001. 5 second gen to buy a third gen. I got one of the last 5. 9's but with the 6. 7 ratio G-56. (. 73- 6th) You will love the G56 trans. My '01 was an auto and even with it built up, I wouldn't trade back. Just got back from a 3,000 mi summer trip and the truck performed flawlessly.
