Differential Gear Oil after 45,000 miles

Comp Box just arrived

Working on 1. 6's (Comp Box in route) Oo. Question: Do the sticks come with everything I'll need? Or, will I need gaskets or seals. etc. to do the sticks? I plan on using the v-cover gasket over as it's only bout a year old.

If you know I'll need something for sure please give a list. Thanks

I've owned this truck since 5/01 and I've been dying to do something that will make a difference under the hood, now that the DTT is in :-laf let the fun begin ;)

Might need to replace the crossover tubes. On some of the earlier ISB motors, the fuel crossover tubes in the head were made of a softer steel, and would leak after injector replacement. Dont know how to determine if you need them. My advice would be put the injectors in and if no leaks, move on and be happy. I have reused my original tubes about a dozen times throughout various injector swaps.

The only thing I can think of is curved jaw needle nose pliers for tubes on 4,5,&6. Lots easier. Also I have a 3/4 flarenut wrench cut off about 5" for the injector lines. Other than that it's a slam dunk.

Skip the 1. 6s and go bigger, it'll save you some work later. :-laf

You get the sealing washers with the new sticks, just be sure that the old washers come out with the old ones.

All I have ever used to change ISB injectors is a bolt from the intake air horn, a pair of pliers (standard or needle nose), a small standard screwdriver to pull the tubes back, a line wrench, and the other misc tools.

Please, please, please do yourself a favor, get a crows foot and use your torque wrench on the line nuts! I have seen over and over guys reef down on these things and cause the joints to leak due to overtightening. And if they didn't leak the first time, they did the second.

After I get it running I torque everything, then use brake cleaner to get the head dry. Now I run it a little look for big leaks. None? good, go for a short test drive and recheck. If you have a leak, give that nut a very little bit more of torque and repeat. I'll usually check the lines off and on for the nex two weeks.

After that, no worries, ever!!

BTW Don's injectors rock!!

Joe Mc - when your ready to do the work stop by the house, and i will give you a hand. come to the FALL BRAWL and talk to ( jetpilot) he will give you a good deal on your (Performance Parts) :)

Hey Kelly,

How's it going - hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I've read quite a bit of posts that Jetpilot has replied to. It seems he's very knowledgable and straight up. I'll be getting my Comp box (already ordered) and Don's sticks (working on them now) thru Tim Barber (see sig - guy that did my trans) he's getting me a sweethart deal on both. So I can't turn that down. I wanted to make the brawl as a first show/get some true numbers on my new mods, unfortunately two things are holding me back 1-no comp box or sticks yet and more importantly 2-My works is involved in a community wide disaster drill that weekend. Since on of the hats I wear at work says "Safety Officer" I can't see myself at two places at the same time and as they say "you gotta go where the $ is". So maybe next Spring or ??? Thanks for the offer to help and I'll keep JP in mind when I'm ready for the next step in Bombs. Later . . .

Oh yeah, Kelly, are you going to include your HP/TQ stats in your sig after the Brawl? Or, do I have to just wait till you creep up unexpectedly on me some night and througholy dowse me with soot as you blow by :-laf
