Well I got a early start this morning to take my truck in for the C44 an C42 recalls. I drove 40 miles one way to use a dealership I thought I could trust. I arrived about 5 minutes before service department opened, and was second in line. It took about a hour to do the recall, notice I said recall, not recalls. I had called them on Friday 3/05/04 to set appointment for today. When the service writer said your ready to go, he told me they did'nt have the parts for the C42, and they were on order for me. On the way back I decided to check trans fluid, and to my surprise, but not really it was low, about middle ways below the "Add mark". I was P. O. Right across the expressway was another Dodge dealership, so I wheeled over there to get it checked out. I told the service writer I had just come from another dealership, and they had done the C44 recall and left the trans low on fluid. He wheeled me right in, and also done the C42 as well as topped off the trans. Now this second dealership is only 10 miles away from where I live, an the reason I did'nt use them was because of a "rumor of bad service". I was satisfied with the way they treated me and job done, maybe because he could tell I was a little ****** off at the other dealership. Anyway I liked the way they noted that the other dealership left trans low on fluid on my invoice ticket. OH! "Yeah" first dealership left me with some oily finger prints all over my fold down console too. So guys be sure and check those fluids when you leave or before you leave. You can't trust no one but yourself seems like these days. Sorry for the long post, just had to vent a little.

Many variables affect the service you might receive - certainly cannot ignore LOTS of reported bad service from a single dealership - but ANY of them CAN have a bad day or isolated experience. Add to that the "wrong side of the bed" syndrome, and friction between a customer and service writer might be a factor as well...

I have consistently received excellent service from my local dealership, where I also bought my truck - but DID have one questionable experience with them on my old truck - I coulda given up on them, but been back since, and again received excellent service - shucks, I consider myself a good worker too - but have no illusions that sometimes I coulda done better... ;)

Well don't always believe the rumors. It is like anything else, I try and give people, dealerships, mail order parts places, anything the benefit of a positive first experience. If it goes fine, then great I have a new source for parts, information what ever. Same with people, I do not listen to rumors, like that guy is hard to work with or worse. Maybe he was only hard to work with because of a personality conflict by one or both. I like to assume we can get along together, and it is up to them to prove me wrong. I am glade you gave the Other shop a chance. Sounds like you just found a new dealership to frequent, and they just made a new and happy customer.
