Dont buy a Leer

About a year ago I was looking for a truck cap. Although the consenus here was to buy something other then a Leer, I decided to get the Leer 100XL. Boy was I wrong. I had numerous problems with the cap, including leaking. I brought it back to the dealer and they sent it back to Leer to be fixed. I got the cap back and of the 4 problems I had only one is truly corrected. I have fixed the problems myself (except for some leaking still) but I am not impressed with Leer. Based on their "repairs", I would not buy a Leer product again. Just wanted to pass this info on. If anyone is looking for a truck cap... . DO NOT BUY A LEER. You will be sorry if you do.

I had a Leer on my 96 and loved it. However, I have heard so much negative feedback both on forums as well as from others I have talked to I won't buy another one. I'm going to give SnugTop a try this time.

I agree, had one, won't have another. It's tough to find a good cap for a fair price. I think Snug Top is a good alternative but pricey (I liked the Snug Top but the SLC dealer was expensive). I ended up with a Glas Tite this time. Very heavy hardware compared to the Leer and better price than Snug Top.

I have owned 3 Leer's and 1 Snugtop and I was happy with all of them, but I will always buy Leer because the quality for the price.

I had a Leer once

Bin their done that ,on my Dodge 98 360 gasser i was talked into buying a Leer,never again. It was pretty pricey ,problems were windows and shocks were starting to leak,mouldings were peelling as well as the lock cylinder was poor quality too . They sure do look nice though. On my 2001 i went with Raider out of British Columbia Canada,much better quality,looks just as nice if not better IMO. As well for the same price they threw in the roof rack,inside carpet liner and fold down front sliding window(to clean front window of canopy). The place i bought the Leer from does not carry them any more,too pricey and too many problems. My 2cents DW Oo.

Fell apart!

I too had trouble with a Leer cap. After a few years the thing delaminated!
