To me, American is defined by your inner beliefs and intestinal fortitude to stand up for what is right, not defined by accent or skin tone, or place of birth.
As for the statement about going to places ran/managed by Arabs, it was meant as a warning. The same type of warning our Sheriff told us once. If you know the person you pull over, if you know they have lived in your town for 50 years, if you know its your friends dads uncle kind of thing... then there is no need for a criminal background check. There is no need for a check on outstanding warrants etc. No need to treat every person who drives through this County as Public Enemy #1.
The same hold true here. If you know these people, have known them for many years, their kids play with yours kind of knowing, then absolutely with out question, no need to be "on the defensive". No need to boycot, no need for anything except common respect. IF you have no clue about the people, no one around has never heard of them, seen them... then better to be safe than sorry. If that offends them or others around the area, sorry. All is fair in love and war. Better to be safe than 6 foot under.
