The NAPA 3033 will not work as a diesel fuel filter in winter, I'm just sayin'...



Instead, use the NAPA 3270.

Why? Is it rated differently, as in microns? Do they plug up too quickly? Fall apart? Inquiring minds wanna know...

It is a 3/8" in line filter. I have a FASS without filters on the '04. 5 and when I installed the auxiliary tank it needed the in line filter before the pump. The FASS came with a Fleetguard but I didn't have quick access to one so I went to NAPA where they sold me the 3033 which worked fine all summer, fall and winter until it got down to zero and below. What I discovered is the 3033 is a paper filter rated for gasoline only. Further searching came up with the NAPA 3270 which is a wire mesh strainer similar to the Fleetguard.

So yeah, it plugs REAL quick when the temps do a nose dive to less than 10*.

Ever compare Napa FF with a Fleetguard? I was surprised to find the Napa has about half the number of pleats.

The NAPA 3270 doesn't have pleats. It is a wire mesh. I think it is about 140 micron. Basically just a roughing filter for big stuff to protect the pump. I used the 3270 filter with my Walbro pump on my 03.

Yep. . its a rock catcher. . napa has nose dived the last 5 years close to Auto Zone level. . In some case Auto Zone has better suppliers.

Gary is correct, I only use the 3270 for protecting the pump for large particles. The good filters are after the pump.

I also have to say that the NAPA filter I use in the stock filter housing is an extended use filter and lasts for many more miles than the previous NAPA filters did. It seems NAPA has two lines, one to compete for price with Auto Zone et al, and the Gold line premium stuff.

I use the 3270 prior to my FASS 95 as FASS sent when I purchased my fuel pump. It came with the pump & I believe that it is only for big stuff. I would never use it to replace the the regular OEM filter.
