My truck has always run well & got descent mileage so I put off having the timing checked/set thinking it was probrably already advanced some. It was supposed to be at 13. 5 stock, but was at 10. 5. I had it bumped to 16 & it runs noticably better & gets 1mpg better than it did before. I check every tank & my drive is the same every week, mostly hwy 130mi+ daily. I always got 20-20. 5 before the timing change. I've refueled 5 times since the timing bump & the first was 21. 01, the rest have been from 21. 2 to 21. 56. The only downside is the truck is a bit noisier cold. The timing bump will pay for itself within a year in fuel savings & it's more fun to drive

Good advice,

I started at 12. 5 deg on my 95 5spd, I moved to 15 and thought things were great. Then went to 17 and mileage dropped... Now back to 15deg and 22 MPG (unloaded at 60-70 mph} I'll keep my 12V.
