I am actually considering 181 Delivery Valves, a 11 plate, and seeing if that will still spool my PDR 40 till prices come down. It's really hurting working class people, like myself, and I know there is nothing that can be done about it. My neighbor keeps trying to coax me and convince me that this is the same scenario as what happened back in the 70's, and that the prices will come down later on down the road. Whatever the case, it's killing me...

It's not the same as the 70's. No oil then. Now we have the oil, just no distribution. I suppose the end result is pretty much the same. I'm hoping my sig will include a 250cc motorcycle of some sort soon.

I can spool my PDR 40 just fine. You make more power than I do. Lag shouldn't be much worse.



Don't know about your truck, but my mods increased my mileage.

I'm not quite sure how you'd have a problem buying crude oil. The problem is the permits you'd need to do anything with it, the sampling of it, and distributing it in such a way that all the taxes get paid on it, while doing testing to ensure it meets the varying criteria for fuel in various regions. Plus what sort of equipment do you have lying around the house where you could utilize it? I had no idea regular individuals have distillation columns, storage tanks and catalytic crackers floating around their yards.

Call your congressmen/women and demand they facillitate the building of more refineries by backing off some of the legislation mandating new tighter fuel specifications, and doing away with some of the lengthy permit processes.

Perhaps we could annex part of Mexico and build some extra refineries there, since they have no EPA to deal with, at least not on the same level as ours.

Same here. One of my "friends" tried to tell me that these prices were the best thing that has happened to the country so we can make more "econo cars. " Needless to say, I about broke his nose! :-{}

funny you mention those parts for refining crude oil. i happen to work for a company that makes 70% of the parts in a refinery... ... ... ... . wounder if i can buy parts at scrap price and make a little one for the farm

Don't get me wrong I hate the price of fuel, but when I started to drive in the early 80's gasoline was $1. 25 a gallon and I made $5. 00 an hour working for my dad. My friends made $3. 25-3. 50. So I had it good, now I make way more than $5. 00 an hour and fuel is $3. 00 a gallon soon to be more.



I guess it is how you look at it, I have curtailed my driving alot.

I have really tryed to conserve fuel,I haven't put 100 miles on my truck in the last month and a half. .

Last Tuesday, I paid $2. 479 at my usual Sunoco truck stop - beating the post-Katrina price spike.



Tanked up today, and here are the same station's prices:



87 - $3. 199

89 - $3. 299

93 - $3. 399

94 - $3. 439

Don't know about you guys, but my truck is getting around the same fuel economy as when it was stock. I'm getting 17. 4 MPG with a bad clutch. That's the same as it has always been.

I don't feel so bad getting 22+ mpg in the 97 and just over 20 in the 1st Gen.

Just call your local commodity broker and tell him you want to buy a NYMEX crude oil futures contract. When it comes due, if you haven't sold it, I hope you have a nice tank farm to store your crude oil!
