Digital Photo of old photos

BIG, Just tried it for this last post. My Camera isnt the greatest. I'd love to computerize my old pictures. They are deteriorating fast! I've lost a few, also:{! I've seen the converters but have not bought one. Dont know how good they are. Taking individual digital photos of the old pictures is extremely time consuming. I also have a bunch of old slides! GregH

What kind of scanner? Is there one that would scan slides? Walmart has one but I dont trust the quality. Thanks! GregH

Greg we have a Cannon All in one the wife takes care of our biss on line and sometimes needs to use all 3 copy/scan/fax it does a fare job of printing Pic's. Im looking at getting a stand alone photo printer because of the quality of prints. Most all of the Pic's that I put up are on our printer but if I want to print a really nice one I use the guy's across to way until I figure out what printer I want. As for scanning slides I HAVE NO IDEA??? I to am putting all the old pics on computer they are not going to last and you are right it is a time consuming task. But it is nice to run across a pic that had a special moment attached to it and send it to the kid's

There was a show on the History channel couple years ago called After Armagedden. It was interesting. It showed what they thought would happen after some sort of event (they speculated that most likely it would be some sort of pandemic event). They did many of their assumptions based on historical evidence of what has happened in the past and dated it to current times and population. It was interesting and would have to admit they brought up some stuff that I wouldnt have thought about. The infrastructure of society could fall very fast once it started.

We used something similar to this (I cant remember the model we have) on our old slides as we had hundreds of them and while I was quite skeptical it actually worked pretty well. My research showed mixed reviews on how good they were. Some people were complaining that the slide reproductions werent in like new condition but what the heck do you expect from a 30, 40 or 50+ yr old slide that has already degraded significantly. It isnt going to correct for degradation that has already happened but it did work pretty well. One other issue is dirt buildup on the slides even if sitting in abox in the basement for 20 years they still get dirty/dusty. The machine does not clean them. There are some rudimentry methods to clean them but I did not and there are some slides where you can see dirt/dust specs on the reproduction. The one I got said it would do negatives as well though I have not tried the negatives yet so cant comment on that function. In any case I thought for 70 bucks or so worth the try and in the end was pleasantly suprised.

It just uses an sd card on the machine then it would scan them onto the card then you just put the card in your pc and download it just like you would a digital camera. Very easy to use.
