The noise that the door buzzer makes when you have your headlights on, or door open and keys in the ignitions is designed to get your attention and it SURE gets mine!!!!

My wife complains that it is loud and is annoyed when I get gas.

The buzzer is quite loud, a neighbor of mine could hear it from 3 doors down.

I went to disconnect it and found that it is attached to a circuit board. Not wanting to wreck anything by stabbing the speaker(who knows how bad that would sound) I decided to fill it. I filled it with "Hot Glue" from a glue gun and now I can hardly hear it.

For my 2001 it is under the steering wheel. Unscrew the plastic panel under the steering wheel, locate the black box attached to the metal frame for the console. Open the box and they tweeter is a small 1"x1" cylinder with a hole in it. put finger over the hole and notice how much quieter. Put hot glue or a screw if you only want it half as loud.

I filled mine up with glue and it is almost not noticeable. If you are worried about not hearing the chime when you need a reminder about lights or keys then don't fill it full of glue, just a small amount will make it more acceptable.

Of course the better approach would be to turn off the lights and remove the key before opening the door. Leaving the truck running while filling can get it snatched if you turn your back. It is also illegel to fuel while running in several states.

I do turn off the truck when I fuel.

If you like the chime you can keep it in. I just posted a fix if others are also annoyed.

What annoys me is the Door Lock Horn and or no Horn function on the 6. 7. Ticks we right off Chrysler cannot provide some sort of soft beep sound to indicate the doors have been locked. My neighbours do not need to be wakened up every time I lock my doors. Currently the only solution is to turn it off. Now I only have a visual lock indicator. I much prefer a soft beep like the VW to let me know I have successfully locked the doors.
Anyone have a solution??
