Hey where is my door dinger at. Im at the point now where if the dealer doesnt fix it, Im going to rip it out. It just dings constantly now and wont shut off. Im going to take it back in and have them try and fix it AGAIN!! After that Im fixin' it MY way!!! Any ideas , Any help MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Just a thougt, one time I turned my interior light on when I got home right before I got out of the truck, I forgot it was on and when I took the key out and opened the door the dinger went off, took me about 10 minutes to figure it out.

door dinger

Dome light is off. All the simple things check out. Lights-seatbelt-door switch-wash fluid is full-no service engine light. (all is good except the dand thing dings 2-3 minutes at a time then itll quit then start back up again) Really frustrated. Need to figure out where the dinger is so I can unplug it until I can get it fixed.

I have been having the same thing happen to my truck a few times in the last week. It will ding and then stop then start again. It hasn't been as bad as yours but it has been doing it. I also noticed today that the " lamp " light on the dash would flash when it would ding. I didn't see it happen before , but I have a colum mount gage pod and it blocks that part of the dash. I'll take mine to the dealer if it continues.

EXACTLY... . your symptoms are the same as mine. UNFORTUNATELY... . mine is going to a different dealer in town early next week, they have a better reputation than the dealer I took it to first, but I didnt buy this truck from this dealer so I dont know if they will honor my Dodge warranty or not. Basically I dont care just want it fixed. Thanks for all your replys guys :)

You might try the procedure for turning the dinger off for the seatbelt. It is in your owners manual. It might do the trick.

If youve already done this - sorry to bother.

But does any one know where the dinger is located? I've been wanting to find it also and discomboobulate the key in switch dinger part when the door is open. I've just been lazy and haven't looked under the dash as I've been waiting for a response to where it is.

If you kill the dinger, you won't have the headlights on dinger, low fuel dinger, turn signal on too long dinger, etc. (I think it's one dinger for everything) I killed the key in sweitch so the dinger is intact for the other items. It sounds as though your door switch needs adjustment or there's something else ajar.

Good luck with it.

Ok Hammer. Tell me how you killed the key in switch. Thats how I want to delete the key in noise as compared to killing the key in feed at the dinger. Come on guys, some one must have this info that they can give out.

I looked in the DR Manual for the actual Chime Tone Generator to see if there was remove/install instructions. There is no image of the actual tone generator and no explicit way to identify it in the manual, this is the text from the DR Manual that describes the Chime Warning System. This is about the only thing I have seen that is not defined with a removal/install set of pics and instructions.

CHIME WARNING SYSTEM

DESCRIPTION

A chime warning system is standard factory-installed

equipment on this model. The chime warning

system uses a single chime tone generator that is

integral to the instrument cluster to provide an audible

indication of various vehicle conditions that may

require the attention of the vehicle operator. The

chime warning system includes the following major

components, which are described in further detail

elsewhere in this service information:

² Door Ajar Switch - A door ajar switch is integral

to each door latch. This switch provides an input

to the chime warning system indicating whether the

front doors are open or closed.

² Ignition Switch - A key-in ignition switch is

integral to the ignition switch. The key-in ignition

switch provides an input to the chime warning system

indicating whether a key is present in the ignition

lock cylinder.

² Instrument Cluster - The instrument cluster

contains an integral chime tone generator, integrated

circuitry, a central processing unit and the programming

to provide all of the proper chime warning system

features based upon the monitored inputs. The

instrument cluster circuitry monitors hard-wired

switch inputs, as well as message inputs received

from other vehicle electronic modules on the Programmable

Communications Interface (PCI) data bus

network.

² Headlamp Switch - The headlamp switch provides

an input to the chime warning system indicating

when the exterior lamps are turned On or Off.

² Seat Belt Switch - A seat belt switch is integral

to the driver seat belt buckle-half unit. The seat

belt switch provides an input to the chime warning

system indicating whether the driver seat belt is fastened.

Hard wired circuitry connects many of the chime

warning system components to each other through

the electrical system of the vehicle. These hard wired

circuits are integral to several wire harnesses, which

are routed throughout the vehicle and retained by

many different methods. Refer to the appropriate

wiring information.

The instrument cluster chime warning system circuitry

and the integral chime tone generator cannot

be adjusted or repaired. If the instrument cluster or

the chime tone generator are damaged or faulty, the

instrument cluster must be replaced.

door dinger

Its going to dealer next week I hope 'bout ready to drive it off a cliff. I cant see where its just the door jamb switch because it also flickers the digital odometer.

Mine did it a little on the way to the STEELER game saturday and a little on the way home , but it hasn't done it since.

Give it time mine is real hit or miss. Wont do it for a trip to walmart but if I need to be in the truck for a while itll ding like a mo-fo!!! Going to dealer friday... cant wait hope they fix it.

quiet dinger

I have taken the buzzer / dinger out of other vehicles and wrapped them withe tape ect to at least muffle them... ... .

All this dinger talk reminds me of when I was in business I got a call from one of my employees he was ticked off as the truck he was driving had a bad fuel pump he told me both tanks had fuel and it had quit running. I went out R & R the fuel pump still the same problem. I start troubleshooting it my self should have known better than rely on him or anyone. I found a cut wire to fuel selector switch, my employee the week before had on his own had cut the wire as to kill the dinger! It also powered the fuel selector

O. K. Fellas all fixed up and I must say I had an exceptional experiance with my Dodge dealer. First off they ran the TSB that SILVER RAM 03 told me about (thanx bud) and they found a bad circut board in the left rear tailight assembly. They even fixed it while I waited just walked in fixed it and gone. Couldnt have asked for better service. They were very kind and happy to see I had the TSB # I got off of this web sight.
