OK guys need your advise, Ill be driving down the road and my "dinger" (like for seatbelt or door ajar) will just randamly go off. Sometimes itll ding once and quit other times itll ding like 5-6 times in a row. Any ideas??? Dont want to go to dealer till last resort. Loose connection... . short... . contact cleaner. Thanx a Million.

First of all, you're sure you're not getting a dash light when it dings? The "ding" for the SES light is identical to the "ding" for the door chime.

If you're not getting any codes/lights, then I'd say the Ohio road salt has done some damage to your door switch. The switch is inside the latch mechanism in the door. Try giving it a good dose of acetone (or your favorite cleaner/degreaser... something that evaporates completely and fast) and see if that helps at all.

Maybe this T. S. B. will help.

08-004-03 All Electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) erroneous indicator lamps. Three conditions have been identified which may be caused by communication errors between the electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) and other electronic modules on the vehicle. 1. An intermittent false “Check Gauges” on diesel engine equipped vehicles. 2. An intermittent false chime and “Low Wash” indicator. 3. A “Trans Temp” indicator on a manual transmissions equipped vehicle. This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the MIC with new software.

Mine will ding when I have my cell phone charger plugged into the arm rest plug. Electrical interferrence to the buckle switch. Dealer says nothing they can do.

Do you have your seatbelt on? My 05 came with an extremely annoying ding that sounds like that if there is any vehicle speed without the seatbelt latched. If that is the problem, you can disable it following the procedure in the owners manual. I disabled mine and made the judgement call that I'm pretty safe cruising through the McDonalds parking lot without my seatbelt on.

door ding still

Seat belt is on, cell phone sits in cup holder (not charging), all lights are good, I checked, took to dealer and had the TSB run that Silver Ram spoke of and now the thing dings worse than ever. It also keeps half ***** lighting the lamp out indicator in the instrument cluster. It is really starting to **** me off. Dealer had it for 8 hours and it is still not right I havent told them yet cause I, like everyone else, cant be without my truck. So now I dont know what to do dont want to take to dealer and them tell me "we cant find problem" and have it for 3 weeks. Any more help or ideas are greayly appreciated. Thanks again guys!!!

i'm having the same f'in issue. i'm so ****** right now, the dealership replaced a GD light bulb in the license plate and must've thought they could recreate the prob. in the shop. no test drive.

i read about plastic light bulbs melting, but plastic light bulbs? come on now, i've never heard of such a thing.

i'm gonna rip the whole truck apart tonight and figure out what the problem is.

The dinger in my truck went off and it ended up being that I bumped the instrustment dimmer switch to the cargo lamp position far enough that the ding would activate but the cargo lamp in the bed and on the dash were off. Just a thought.
