I recently had my passenger door bump an object I was too close to when the door was opened. Well it did not chip the paint but it roughed it to the point that I dont think touch-up will eliminate its unsightliness. On my previous truck I had plastic door edge to cover the oopsies. I did not like the plastic but discovered someone might make metal ones... . I would prefer the protectors to be black to match the rest of my trim (truck color is medium bronze) Anyone know of a source?

Thanks

David

Dodge makes a set of stainless steel edge guards - check Genos or your local dealer. I have them on my truck and they seem to do the job.

The new Dodge door edge guards are black from the factory, and are 4 piece.

Hard to install because curves don't exactly match the door curves, but they will fit. You'll need a rubber mallet to get them in place, then watch them for couple of days to be sure they don't pop off. Once they sit in the heat for a couple of days, they'll stay put.

I bought a set from JC Whitney for around $25. Fit perfect with no hassle. They are metal, availible in black and stainless steel.

Mine are satin finished stainless steel. There are 2 pieces per door - above & below the rubber strip. I only use the upper pieces because the short lower pieces didn't fit all that well. Now if I could remember where I put those short pieces.....

I bought my chrome metal ones from Mopar4less.com last year for $13. The part number is:

Brian and Dresslered,

Thanks Gentlemen,

Now if they are available in black will put a set of them on. About the only bright thing on my truck are the bumpers and factory alloy wheels. The black trim on the medium bronze is a better combination than I thought it would be. Unlike my last brown/tan truck where chrome was the better choice.

Went down to a local Dodge dealer in my area and they had a set of stainless steel coated in a black plastic or rubber type material. They were not too difficult to install but with aid of a rubber mallet they did install correctly. I might add they are molded to fid the entire contour(s) of the door. They do not appear to detract from the overall appearance of the truck..... should have bought them sooner.

Thanks Everyone

Not much chance for that to happen here in Texas, that is unless you spend days on the coast driving down the beach. The winters unlike yours are usually very moderate maybe only a day or two of snow and thats about it if you are lucky. In fact I dont ever recall owning a vehicle here that had rust. My main problem is the rolling demolition derbies that we call freeways here.

Forgot to mention the flip side is our murderous temps, right now about 106 in the shade. So its pretty dry even thought the humidity is up there.

You got that right about the humidity. Temp today is 92 and heat index (how hot is feels because of humidity) is 108.

Someday I'll get out of here and move where there is no snow, or very limited snow. Actually I don't care if it snows as long as the city/state doesn't dump the damn corrosive salt/cloride mixtures on the road.
