Door handles on outside are turning white!

Hello every one, I have a 1998 Dodge and the outside door handles are turning white! I have no idea why. When i waxed my truck i didnt get any wax on them, they are just turning white and i have no idea why. I have a couple other buddies that have dodge trucks and they are having the same promblem as I. Has anyone else had this promblem, and if so how can i go about to fix the promblem? Thanks, Nick

I haven't had that problem with my Ram yet but when I purchased my 92 Sable it had all the black trim turning white. I purchased some black chrome polish and used it about once a month and after about 5 months they started staying black. I think they need something to replace the luster in the plastic as it dries out. I will tell you the exact name when I get up to my house. Made it home and the product was yup you guessed it Back To Black. Great stuff!!!!!

It's the sun that causes it. My truck is parked in a carport where the sun can only hit the pass side late in the day,it is the only side turning white. I've used Armor-All to slow it down,but the other products mentioned by others sound better.

The only real way to avoid this problem is to have the door handles painted. I had mine done along with the tailgate handle a little over two years ago, and they're holding up fine! My truck is intense blue, and I had them painted to match. Best thing is you CAN get wax on them!

Back to Black is great stuff. It cuts through the oxidization on all the black trim and makes it look better than new. Does ok on tires too.

Just got back from parts house and put back to black on mine. It works. I put it on the bumpers and the mirrors, splash guards. I was amazed at what I did for 4. 00 a detailer would have 50. 00 or more. I got mine at auto zone.

I use "Black Magic" every few months on the exterior black trim, mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper and it keeps them looking like new. Get it at Pep Boys but am pretty sure you can get it at most any auto joint.

Here is a pretty simple trick someone told me a while back. Kiwi black shoe polish. I just rub a little in and buff it off with a boot brush. I do it about every 4th bath and I don't worry about getting wax on the trim, the polish covers all, and helps clean out grime and bugs #ad
The shoe polish also just wipes off the paint if it gets on it.
