I just got done replacing the pins and bushings in the right side door. Door is nice and tight, but is now out of adjustment.

if you look at the door trim it line up on the fender, but at the end of the door its own 1/2 inch and the door will not close.

the adjustment on the hinges where it bolts into the door will only adjust flush fit, not up and down. How is this adjustment made? do I need to shim the hinges? I cannot get to the upper hinge bolts that mount to the body, would have to remove the dash.

Am I missing something simple??

You need to pull the left side kick panel off. Under it is a rubber plug. Remove it. Under this plug is two bolts. Loosen these. The third bolt comes in from the outside of the door. You need to loosen this one also. It is a bear to get to.

After all three bolts are loose on the bottom hinge. Lift up and hold the outer edge of the door. Then tighten one of the bolts down and check the fit of the door. Then adjust as needed. Retighten all bolts when it is positioned properly.

In a worse case app. If you can not get enough travel on you hinge. You might need to use a 2X4 or a large socket and bend the door. If you have to go this way. Put the 2x4 or the socket into the hinge itself. Then close the door and push. Do not push hard or you could over bend it. If you do it this way do it in small steps.

This is another body shop accepable practice. It is the last resort to fit a body panel.

Whoa..... nasty ...

On my brothers 92 we had to pull the dash off and get at the top bolts from behind the dash panel.

It was a darn crappy job... . it took us a long time to get all the alignment issues right... .
