I just lube the hinges with WD-40 or a light oil and no more groan. Just spray it at the roller and it will soak in.

I oil mine every week but as soon as i wash the truck or it rains all of the water off the roof comes down the gutterless dam doors and washes the hinge area taking my oil off . . Wish i could find a lube that would stay on.

Bentley, try some white lithium grease it doesn't wash away and sticks really good. I have used it for years to lube hinges, slides, tail gates, door locks, latches and striker bolts.

second vote for white lithium grease(from a spray can)- I only have to grease every 3-6 months depending on weather conditions, and you know my hinges have to be worn after 246k miles...

THis is what I use also. Works very well. the problem with w-D40 is it doesn't last long

Suzuki motorcycle sells a chain lube that defies moisture to displace it. have a friend who rides a Harley and he says it is the best stuff out there.

White lithium is easier to find and works great. Also, you might try lock lubricant with molybdenum-disulphide. Great stuff, downside is it is messy and stains everything it touches black.
