For those of you that want to rebuild your door hinges rather than pay the stealer $60 for a new one here is how I rebuilt my drivers door top hinge.
1. with 13 mm. wrench removed the 2 nuts and 1 bolt that hold parking brake mechanism in place.
2. Block up drivers door. I Set a Bucket with a piece of plywood under the open door to support it. Only remove 1 hinge at a time!
3. With a putty knife peel off 2 inch square black patch over hole in door post behind where the brake mechanism was.
4. In the exposed hole where you peeled off patch is a bolt that takes a 13 mm socket , short 1/4 " dr. extension and ratchet to remove.
5. Remove 2 bolts that hold hinge to door.
6. With Long 1/4 " drive extension, reaching between door and fender remove remaining 2 bolts from door hinge to cab.
7. Knock out hinge pin and old bushings.
8. using Drill size letter R or an 11/32's drill bit drill the top hole in the half of the bracket that bolts to the cab
9. Using a 7/16 bit drill out the top hole in the half of the bracket that bolts to the door.
10. Replace bushings and pin using Motormite or Help part number 38382 Kit Or Doorman part # 702-275 .
11. Drill 1/8 th inch hole in the hinge pin and insert cotterpin so hinge pin remains intact.
12. replace hinge on truck using paint lines as a guide for proper alignment.
My door works like new with only the top rebuilt. It takes 1 kit per hinge. discard the short pin and you have an extra set of bushings. Cost about $5. 00 and 1 hr.
