Door Locks

03 quad-cab. What would cause the LR door to lock itself when you close it? Sometimes it won't unlock with the others. Also when you open it, it will lock itself at the safety catch. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a spring return has gone bad or broken in the door. Something that holds the latch jaws open. I'd remove the mechanism and see what you can do with it. It might need to be replaced.



Maybe a couple bits from the service manual will help...

High levels of sticky apple juice slung from a leaking sippy cup of a 2 1/2 year old while saying, "Look Daddy! I'm making bubbles!" will cause a rear window not to roll down without extracting the interior window wiper from its home. It also makes the electric lock not want to work up and down real well when commanded to do so.
