Door Locks?

Short story: Had an 11:00 meeting in Dillion SC today so up at 6:45 to move my old truck so I can hitch the trailer and stuck the old truck. By the time I got it out I was running way behind. (2hr drive to Dillion) So I get to my Dad's, leave it running, and jump out to get him. Go to load up and the doors are locked. Had to call my wife, 1/2 hr away to bring "her keys" (we all know that they're mine just on loan to her but don't tell). She loves it when I do stuff like this, just grins. So during the day I try to recreate doors locking while the engines running but it won't. Then I stopped on the way home from Dad's (needed fresh dip) and it does it again but I was prepared this time.



Is it normal for them to lock while running or does it sound like a loose wire or similar problem? Seems kinda hit & miss. If its normal can it be "re-programed"?



I think some days I'd be better off staying in bed another hour.

On my truck I don't think the power locks on the doors will let you lock them if the truck is running (I think). I have the remote locks and I carry the extra key fob in the dash for those cold days I want to leave in running in the Walamart parking lot with my normal set of keys in the ignition. The key fob will lock while it's running. I also have a spare key hidden outside (in a secret place) AND one in my billfold. Locked my keys and billfold inside once. County Sheriff got the door open.

I had the same thing happen the 2nd week we had our new pickup. Had to do the same thing as you did call the wife to open the rig,I was told if you have a key lock on the passenger door the remote was a dealer install, and I have a pass. key lock! so I

carry a spare key and when I open the door with motor running I

flip the lock on the door to unlock befor stepping out. so far no more lock out. Good luck D/D

I don't have the lock cylinder on the pasenger door. Both times I got out the door was unlocked but locked when I got out, key in ignition, engine running. The owners manuel doesn't mention anything about this "feature". Must have an electron leak somewhere.

When my truck was two months old, I was heading for Fla. I pulled into a gas station, pulled up to the pumps and had to run to the bath room. When I came out my truck was locked, motor running, keys in the ignition.



I called the 800 number and 20 minutes later a guy was there to unlock my truck. When I proclaimed to him that I did not lock the truck, he said, "I do believe you. I get atleast ten calls a month from mopar owners who tell me the same thing. "



Since then I carry the extra key in my pocket.

This is why I've always avoided ele. this and that. A man I once worked for dirlled the KISS principal into my head and as usual he was right. I've clipped the key fob on my knife for now.



Thanks for the info. I was starting to think it was the early onset of old timers disease.
