Hey Guys... Ive got a couple of questions for you all... I want to replace the door speakers on my 93 and am wondering if you have any hints on how to remove the plastic door panels to access the speakers. I have not tried to pull on them or anything, thought Id ask about first.

Also, general 4x4 question... do both the front wheeles power the truck when the 4 wheel drive is engaged or just the one opposite of the rear tire that supplies the power? I do not believe I have a limited slip diff...

Thanks guys

Hi GreenGiant93
I have a '93 and the door panels are fairly easy to remove. The first step is to remove the inside door handle - behind the door handle you will find a phillips screw - remove it. The rest of the panel is secured by spring metal retainers mounted in the door panel that snap into holes in the door. All you have to do is pop them out with a flat blade screw driver. When you pry them, get as close as you can to each one to avoid damage to the panel. Once the panel is off you can reach inside the door and remove your speakers. Hope this helps.
Opps I forgot about the lower panel screws - they are burried in the kick panel covering. Gitin' old I guess.
Happy Trails

Green Giant, there are a couple of phillips heads screws holding your door panel on. One goes in through the hole in the armrest, you may also have one behind the inside door handle. There may also be three along the bottom of the door panel. I hope this info is correct as it has been a while since I've had a first gen door panel off. Just go slow and don't pull to hard. There are steel frog leg clips on the backside of the door panel, the should disengage fairly easily. Good luck.
As for your 4x4 question, only the tire with the least amount of traction will spin unless you instal a locker.
Hope this helps and again good luck.

GreenGiant93, I just replaced the speakers on my 92 a couple of weeks ago.
1) Take of the door handle 1 phillips screw
2) 1 phillips screws behind the door handle
3) 2 phillips screws one on each side of the lower portion of the panel (on my truck the lower portion is carpetted - but you should be able to see where the screws are.
4) With a flat screw drive start a one of the bottom corners and gently pry up. Then go to the next clip and pry up and so on.
5) After the panel is loose, if you have power windows and locks you will have to remove the power controls - there is a tab that you push in on either side which will release the clips.
6) Behind the panel on the door you will find some plastic, start pulling it gently loose at one corner and when you are finished it can be put in place without using any adhesive.
7) Each speaker is held in place by 4 philips screws and there is a plug for disconnecting the wiring.
8) When you install the panel take your time and align the clips so that they will push back into the holes - or else they will bend.
Cheers,
Al

Just removed mine to replace the window channel. Same as everyone else except I used a putty knife instead of a screwdriver to pry clips loose. Seemed like less risk to the paint.

Thank you all very much... The project should be a snap now... It is good to get some advise as once on a ford I broke the door panel all up trying to get it off. . Thanks and stay warm...
