I have to replace the drivers side mirror on my '04 2500qc. I'm figuring it should be pretty straight forward. I'm hoping to be able to remove the door panel tonight after work and install the mirror after I pick it up in the morning.

So, any help or tips to make this as easy as possible would be greatly appreciated. I know I should have done a search, but I'm leaving for work soon. Also I don't have a service manual. I'll thank everyone in advance.

There are two screws under the bottom edge of the panel and one at the top. The door handle needs to be removed by removing the bolt that is tucked in the recess. After all that, assuming you have power windows, you can slide the whole panel up (it might take a smack to get it started) to release the hooks that hold it on. Then you will have to reach behind to unfasten the door and window switche wires if you want to get it completely out of the way. It only takes about a minute to remove one panel.

I think there is a screw in the door handle area too isn't there? Anyway, there will also be 2 pieces of foam that are sort of stuck to the door panel that you shouldn't loose, unless you want to of course. Also if you push the door lock down it makes it easier.

PS, the bolt is metric for the door handle.

The door lock knob is surrounded by a small plate that you should remove before you put the panel back on. Once the panel is in place you can snap the small plate back on.

That was easy..

Thanks All!!! I had the mirror off in less than 15 minutes. So, if the new one shows up in the morning I'll be set. Thanks again.

Removing the door panel on a 3rd Gen is a dream compared to the older trucks!

I sure don't miss the "Christmas tree" panel retainers. (Maybe the new design is more D than C)

Broken mirror anyone?

May seem strange, but I figured I would ask if anyone wants the broken drivers side mirror. I don't know if there are any usable parts. I guess if you know how to disassemble it there would be many usable parts. The only bad parts are the plastic shell around the outter pivot. Head and glass are in good condition and it all worked. Please don't flame me for asking this. I just thought maybe someone could use the parts to fix another. Pay for shipping and it's yours.
