I have noticed on my truck that I get a lot of wind noise around the drivers side door seal. Seems like it is only in a cross wind when it happens and only on the driver's side.

It does not leak when it rains so I am not sure what to do... ... the door looks like it has proper fit... ... ... . same amount of gap front and rear.

Any ideas on what to do?

I had an 02 1500 and it did not do this so I'm not sure if something is screwed up on this one.

Thanks

JIM

I have noticed this on the 04 I got too. But it is very slight almost nonexistence. The 03 I had did it more on crosswinds. Haven't really looked at it.

Anything over 60 and mine has so much wind noise from the passenger side door that you can not talk or here the radio. It is worse than my 1980 chevy 3/4 ton that has no weater stiping on one door dealer says they have no clue I drive my 96 if i have to go far just for this reason

Wind noise

My 2004 has considerable wind noise in drivers door also:( . It is more prominent when heater fan is on , pressurizing the cab.

Well same here too... . :(

Things like this that keep the bad reputation hanging around DC's neck... . It's all the little things.

Both my 99 and this 04 both have wind noise issues.

I have tried cracking the window to see if this will help and it doesnt... ... ... ... all I get is wind noise from the window.

I am going to check and see if the door is higher then the passenger door and maybe the wind is catching the lip as it rolls over the top of the truck.

Other then that I am baffled

I've noticed it only a few times and I believe the drivers door isn't adjusted as tight against the seal on the upper side as teh passenger side is.

One of these days I'm gonna either try adj. it myself or take it to the dealer and let them do it.

It is funny you say this because my '96 had the worst wind noise I've ever encountered, and my '03 is quiet.

My '01 had wind noise, but my '03 is dead silent. It's almost spooky when your driving down the highway I can almost whisper to my wife. My vote is that its likely an adjustment issue.

I had this too and adjusted the door striker plate on the frame to shut the door in tighter and it pretty well took care of it. You may need to play with it a little to get a good balance of ease of closing and quietness but all it takes is a torx socket and some time.

Doesn't that screw up the alignment of your body panels sucking in the back side of the door towards the B pillar?

My wind noise is bothersome without my camper and unbearable with my camper on the truck. I now wear ear plugs when I am on long drives with my camper. That sucks... My wind noise also only occurs when pointed into the wind at certain angles.

Not too much. You might try it when you get tired of the ear plugs.

I'm tired of earplugs now:mad: Trouble is it's hard to blame DC for the "extra" wind noise that my camper helps generate so the earplugs have been my solution.

I plan on buying some foam weatherstrip tape to install on the lip of the door to hopefully force a better seal against the existing weather strip. If that works I'll post the results here.

BTW, same camper on the '01... no problem.

I think the problem is there regardless of the camper anyway, judging by the number of posts here. You have a legitimate beef. If nothing else take it in when you don't have the camper on. This is a pretty common problem I think. Is there a TSB on it yet?

I've experienced this once in my truck with a strong crosswind coming at the passenger side. I had the same problem with my wife's old Expedition. It seems that the top of the door will actually flex out as there is a vacuum created on the outside of the door (a Reynolds things?). If you can grip the top of the door (hook you finger in the window channel) and pull in, the noise will quiet down or disappear.

BTW, I was at a Dodge store (not my dealer, but another) and I watched the techs adjust the door by pushing and pulling the top of the door frame. I'm not talking gently, either! Steer clear of those kind of "adjustments"!

Mine was noisy for a bit until I realized the lower hinge bolts were real loose. The bottom of the door moved in a little which let the top out. I re-adjusted and tightened it up and all is well now.

Check the fit on top of your passenger door with your fingers from outside with the door closed , it will probably be tighter. Mine drivers door was ajusted by my dealer and its good now. There is a procedure they follow to get it right. ;)
