I've got a 2001. 5 2500 QC where the driver's side door is about 1/2 to 3/4" out of alignment. It sticks up and is easily seen from the front of the truck. No noise or leak problem yet, but this is on the top of my list as soon I get a chance to get the truck to my dealer over in Prince Frederick, MD.

My door alignment is very poor on both sides. It is especially noticeable when the roads are wet. It sounds like the rear windows are not fully closed. The body panel fit on my truck is very disappointing. The hood and front fenders don't line up and the fenders don't match the doors very well. The fit and finish on a $12K Toyota Corolla/Honda Civic etc. would would put my truck to shame.

I hope DC reads these posts! To pay the kind of money these trucks cost and have to put up with, what seems to be "non existent" quality control, is insane!!!!

Keep up the good work DC!! All of the other auto manufactures will love you!!!

I've gotta agree, Hell, I've got a 37 year old car that I drive pretty often, with original WS, and it is quieter around the doors than my 01..... The pass door is cocked down about 3/8 in rear and makes the rub strip look like it's going downhill big time. . Can't blame Mexico... they do pretty good with what they have to work with... It's the dealer prep that fell short. Problem is I have that to fix and some sterring issues, but I can't get my skinny *** out of the seat long enough to leave it at the dealer... . Someday! #ad

I've noticed if there's a real strong wind outside it'll come thru the drivers door pretty good. Otherwise it's fairly good. Doors seem to fit fine.

The doors on the drivers side were out of alignment when I bought it and it had some wind noise. Dealer adjusted it and it's been fine ever since. Kinda miss the rain gutters the older vehicles had though.

My truck had a wind noise on the driver door when it was delivered (11-00). I was afraid to take it back to my local deler for an adjustment. I could'nt handle leaving her all day with a stranger. I adjusted the door myself using the following method. Open the front and rear door and mark the upper and lower latch on the body of the door jam. You have to remove the trim piece on the top one to access the upper latch. Make your mark aginst the latch. Loosen the latch and move it just enough to cover your mark top and bottom Retighten both latches. Close the quad door, make sure that both top and bottom are latched tight. Go for a ride. It only took one small adjustment on mine and now It's as quite as a $36,000 truck should be. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

I bought a 2001 Dodge ,quad cab, 3500 in January and have just returned a back home from a 8500 mile "snowbirdine" trip throgh the south. The truck preformed great pulling a 32ft bumper pull trailer. The only problem
that I have with the truck is a wind noise on the driver's door. I have went to three different "5 star" dealerships without any
resolve. Has anybody expereiced the same.
That is one big reason I trade my old "93"...

bbutler has the right idea. Some dealers may have a service department that takes the pains to perform the job correctly. In the case of doors not being aligned properly, bbutler's suggestion would be the first thing I would try before bringing the truck back to the service department!

Rattlin, I picked up a set of Weather Tech
Wind/Rain deflectors that work great. They
are not the type held on by tape, but actually fit into the window channels. Can drive in rain/snow with windows cracked open quite a bit and they are as solid/secure as anyone could want. About $45 for a pair, made for a specific vehicle.

They can be checked out at:

Ray J,
I've been to that web site before, but I'm going to check around for local places that might carry the same brand. I like them because they don't use the tape. Do you have them on the rear quarter windows too, or do they only make them for the front? It looks like it would be hard to attach any on the rear. Someone told me that PepBoys carries this brand or they can order them. When I commented about the old fashion rain gutters,
I was kinda thinking more of like when you open the door to get in and that layer of snow or water runs off the roof and ends up in the seat you're getting ready to sit in. #ad
But, I don't think any vehicles have them anymore.
I still want the visors that you're talking about for the reasons you stated. Forgot to ask, are they tinted?
Thanks

RattlinRam..... I only have them on the front, not the quarters... not sure if they're made for quarters or not... or how useful they would be on those.

Yes, they are a "smoke" tint to cut down on glare. I've put them on 3 vehicles so far... 2 Jeeps and the Ram..... and they've worked great on each.

I also hear the wind whistling some days worse than others on the passenger side. It drives me crazy. This should also be a recall item for DC. I have noticed that when I shot the front doors, they do not seem to close tightly and the quad doors move momentarily.

01. 5 QCab 4x4 3500 slt ETH/DEE 4. 10 Silver not bombed yet. Thinking about it though...

Wind noise?, Doors out of adjustment? Door seals missing. Didn't you all notice these things when you took delivery? And what good is the warranty if you don't take it back and have it done correctly.
Got to admit on the "99" I missed a door being out of alignment, took it back and they corrected the problem, but it certainly didn't have any wind noise. . The "01" I have no alignment problems, no wind noise, and all seals are in place. My only problem was a seal on the transfer case output shaft leaking, which was taken care of by the dealer. How is DC going to know that a problem exists if you don't bring it to their attention.

How much vision is lost with these? The A pillar is big to begin with, do the window visors make that much more of a blind spot?

Thanks,
Pat

I had "Wind Noise" on the pass. side of my 2001- 2500-4x4. I took it to the dealer, we noticed that the door seal was too low ( gap at the top ) They pulled the seal off and re-positioned it to fit higher. Needless to say, "No more wind noise" Good Luck!
