I like the sound of the Polk DB691 in front and the Polk DB651s in the back doors that I installed, though they sound even better with an extra amplifier mounted under the passenger seat. Depending on the amp, the extra amp might mean putting a line output converter in the dash that converts the speaker level output from your oem headunit to RCA outputs for the amp, though MANY amps now can utilize high level speaker inputs.

If you do not mind paying a little extra for great customer service, free shipping, unlimited tech support AND a 60 day return policy, Crutchfield.com is the place to shop for your speakers...their sales reps are fantastic at listening to your needs/wants and they have immdeiate access to a proprietary tech base that lets them tell you what will and will not fit in your truck.

Thanks, thought Crutchfield closed up a while back . Would like something that won't require a lot of work to install and still sound as good as the factory stuff does / did. Drivers door speaker is starting to get a little raspy.

You can even go to their site and plug in your vehicle info then browse by category and read reviews of what others have said. That being said, if the Polks fit your truck like they do my 2005, then check them out. The most important thing for you to know is whether or not your trcuk has the premium Infinity stereo system, which might necessitate some rewiting, as the IIRC the oem speakers are amped at the door, or something like that. My SLT had the basic 4 speaker system, which made upgrading parts plug n play.

FYI-- Crutchfield does open box as well as scratch and dent clearnace that still carry the same warranty and return policies.

agreed, crutchfield makes it pretty easy. There customer service and tech support is second to none.
I upgraged my factory speakers to Infinity, dropped in a sub system that had its own amp and feeds of the rear door speakers. All being done with the factory head unit.
