anyone have a solution for the front edge of the door rubbing a hole in the A pillar weatherstrip? :{ How many have noticed this little piece of engineering genius

hey George, did you put ricksons on your 3rd gen? and by the way how is all the developent coming along in your neck of the woods? I was thinking about putting vasaline or something on the strip but am hoping someone else has a bright idea

JAaron, same problem as you have and haven't found a fix for it yet. I know I will take it into the dealership before the 3/36K is up and get them to at least replace it with new stripping. I'm almost sure the new truck ('05 and newer) have a different strip and that may be the "updated" version.

Anything slickery helps I think. JAaron... Ricksons sitting in garage. Getting dusty. My offroad life (using diesel Passat for road) is much higher with new truck and KORE suspension/camper etc that the Ricksons stay off. They were fine when my road miles were higher but I want lightweight as possible now. May sell them or use on a gooseneck dump trailer project. Thinking seriously about KORE wheels/Toyo's but the stock wheels/BFG's really are fine... just looking real little now. Development is smoking here. George

My 2005 was built in December of 2004 and still has the old door seals and the seal

IS tearing just like the 2003 models did. I have heard, however some of the later

build 2005's do have the new seal.

Mine hits bad enough that slickem doesn't seem to help much.

I have one of the '05s built in July '04. I took it in for the tearing weatherstrip and got it replaced with the new part. They have changed the design by not molding in the part that used to tear.

I know many of you feel this is a problem on all the trucks I have a very early 2003 -10/2002 build date and my seals look brand new still no sign of wear to date. I have 42K on the truck and almost 3 years behind the wheel to date.



One thing I do at least twice a year is wipe all the seals with silicon I use a rag with a mixture of silicon spray armoral and Sil-Glyde. I have developed this mixture over years of experimentation and this seems to clean and protect the best. In the winter season it keeps the doors from freezing shut.



Some of the damage could be caused from freezing weather and or a misaligned door from the factory.

I siliconed my truck door seals from day one when I bought the truck and have not had any problems with tearing. I reapply the silicone about every 2-3 months. No problems yet Oo. coobie
