Again I just got a first gen truck. It is a fixer upper. I just noticed That The dash lights Don't work. And the passenger window gets now power to it. I changed the 20 amp fuse under the dash with no change. Also does anyone know were to get replacement door parts.

Everything bolted to the doors seem to be trashed. Door liner ETC. And I need to replace the window strips,And whatever i may need to fix the passenger window.

Any help appreciated.

Fixer upper

Get a test light and make friends with the local salvage folks. Boy did I get lucky. The local salvage yard guy bought a first gen and he came to me for help on the Getrag. Priceless return on a little of my time.

What parts the Dodge dealer may have will be too expensive to put on an older truck. There are body parts on the classified from time to time and if you post a want ad, you will surely get what you want. Plenty of these truck are dead and used parts are available. Body parts are the same on the gas model trucks. You could buy a whole salvage truck and sell what you don't need. There is no need to 'pay too much'.

Are you new to TDR? If so read read and read. You will soon be up to speed. Enjoy your truck.

Jim C,

I haven't done it on my trucks, but I have taken car window switches apart and cleaned the contacts, which fixed them. Of course, if there is no power getting to the switch, that's another thing.

Good luck!

I know this is not the answer to fix your problem, but this is what I did with mine. I had a short somewhere in the Power window line. Everytime I out a fuse in it would blow. I could not find it for the life of me. So what I did on both doors, I tapped into the power lock circut. Everything works fine and the way it should, except your windows has power to them all the time. Which I actually find a bonus. A few people have brought up theft concerns, but if they can get in to reach the power window switch. Then they are in far enough to be able to take it already. As for the switches themselves, I replaced a couple along the way thinking they were the cause of the problem. As others have said, do not go to the dealer to get these. They are like $70 a piece. Just go to a junk yard, and usually they will only be a couple bucks.

check the wire harness between the door and the body I have seen wires get brittle and break after being worked back and forth for so many years. Pull the switch out and check to see if it has power, if it doesn't make note of the color and check that wire at the kick panel behind the cover before it enters the body gromet. good luck!
