New Hauler Bed

Sad but great memories.....................

Hey BIG, if your up for a little site seeing and your going through Iowa, John Waynes birthplace is a neat little place to stop. They turned his home into a mini museum of memorabilia from his movies and personal life. its pretty small, doesnt take long to go through, but I thought it was worth the stop. IIRC, its about 15 minutes off of I-80.

Thanks D4L I will have to see what our plans are. I kind of like that sort of thing in Calif we went to the Richard Nixon and Ron Reagan museums and thought they were actually pretty interesting we got to listen to Mrs. Reagan speak she is one fine lady and person in my opinion.

This is just telling us that if you restrict your hauling to within a 150 mile radius that you do not need a CDL, But i do have a CDL, DUH HELLO IS ANYBODY HOME

Read the entire booklet. Having or not having a CDL doesn't change the rules for using farm plates.

Here's a clue for you: Farm plates exempt legitimate farmers from most DOT rules but only when they are used by someone who is a legitimate farmer/rancher, hauling his own products not for sale, and within a 150 air mile radius of that person's farm or ranch.

I'll explain it a little slower and using smaller words if that will help. Just let me know if you need that.

I Like the part about being a LEGITIMATE!!!!!! FARMER/RANCHER :-laf::-laf I HAVE A PILE OF I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER TO PROVE IT!!!! FIL said I need to name the new mountain and get a GPS marker on it :-laf:-laf

THEN I THOUGHT ABOUT HOW LONG ITS GOING TO TAKE TO SPREAD THAT ON THE PASTURES THIS SUMMER

Ya better hope you dont get pulled over :-laf

One of our Mech's and was one of the better one's was a driver until he had a DUI, he started to wrench and at least knew what we were talking about.

The only reason we got CDLs anyhow were to get put into peepee testing. Lol. It's ok. I look at it as an asset.

When I workin with the iron workers , every month there was a random and it was a crap shoot if the guy that got picked was gonna melt the bottom of the cup out or not :-laf They just couldnt figure out how to stay clean

This went too far, I apologize to ALL the readers of this thread and to HBARLOW, This was pretty childish for both of us, I am a Christian and this is not what Christ would want out of us, So, once again i apologize to all, Monte

Monte, don't take it too personal, what you've received here. It'll happen now and again.

D4L, We have a wagon that comes to garages randomly. Don't forget we have close to 60 locations in the DSNY alone. The wagon pulls in, the supervisor jumps off with a roster and they call names. If you've signed in and you get called, that's it! If there's any questions, you're getting escorted downtown to our own medical div. It's pretty effective. It's the old timers on my side- especially the metal trades  that have a tough time. The sanmen have other problems besides alcohol.

Also, the percent of alcohol allowed in your bloodstream is less with a CDL.
The telephone company had "random" testing... every time I or any of the drivers returned from vacation, it was off to the contracted facility testers, didn't seem to random to me. I had no worries, because I hadn't imbibed in anything illegal.

Big, you're a trip and a 1/2! :-laf

Mr. PToombs

I said a very long time ago that I look at things in a REALALISTIC and TRUTHFUL WAY and some people take it as being a smart A**

Is ANYTHING suggested in the above post NOT A REALALISTIC VIEW of the way that some think and act???

BIG

big, i believe he is complimenting you.

Im peeking in from Daughters place in Indy
JJ I know that PT was giving me a compliment :D I hope that it sparks thought like I said I say what I think and most of the time without giving much thought to what is said. What comes out comes out :-laf If some agree great if not great I read most all of the posts just to see where others thinking leads and most leads to some interesting thoughts, Some are always blaming the Government AND THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT I DONT READ.

Mr PTooms I hope you didnt take offence to anything. A TRIP AND A HALF most have just said BIG your a trip :-laf

I try to focus on things that are fun and make me laugh its to easy to be P***ed ALL THE TIME

Hey Big, now that you made the round trip, do you have any new info for us on your original question? I see in your MPG thread you were in Nebraska. There was some discussion about this state and POE's. Did you stop for them or in any state?

Thanks,

Nick

Nick

When I hooked up with 6 big trucks out of Butte MT we got to talking and they said that I 80 East was in pretty bad shape and not a pleasant ride and could be hard on equipment, so we took I 90 E thru SD. Empty I didnt stop at any scales and no one came out after me. On the return trip went I 80 West to North Platte NE loaded I stopped at all scales and they didnt say not to, but I didnt go in and ask either. I didnt have any sign's that said NOT FOR HIRE on the truck but im sure that they are not stupid either and didnt bother with a want- to- be big rig driver, I think it was Harvey that said that it would be at the discretion of the officer and I believe that would be the case. I can tell you that FOR SURE THEY LOOKED AT THE SCALE WEIGHT when I crossed it that is the reason that I put the POD's on the trailer and went to an axle scale and MADE SURE of what was on my steer and drive, the trailer has 2 10K axles so they would not have been the problem with only 5K of weight on the trailer. Trailer weight is 7K empty and the Daughters things were 5K for a total of 12K that the truck was pulling and I have a 65 gal aux fuel tank in the bed of the truck. After North Platte I had some more weight on the trailer but didnt scale it just put it on and ran around scales or went buy if they were closed.

I ran log books for the wife and I just in case they had their Panties in a bunch but like I said I was going to do that anyway to keep track of the trip and JUST IN CASE they asked.

BIG
