What exactly are D. O. T. towing mirrors? I searched for D. O. T. mirrors but none stated they were D. O. T. legal.

This is a SWAG, but I'd say mirrors that extend far enough for the driver to see down both sides of the trailer for a distance of 200 feet. A 102 inch wide trailer would require mirrors that extend farther out than a 96 inch wide trailer.
