double din in-dash dvd player

Just wanted to know if anyone has installed a double din in-dash dvd/ nav unit in a 3rd gen dodge? if so, pics? I had a 2000 f250 that i loved, but unfortuniatly someone loved it more than me and that's how i found my way into the dodge world. Anyway, any input would be great.

i have been wanting to do that with a pioneer avic d3 for a while. . the 06>up ones can take a 2x din with no mods. . the 02-05 3rd gen needs a modded dash piece to work. i have seen pictures of this, but never in person

Well, this is a future project for me. I have a 3rd gen with the din and a half stock radio. I am looking at doing a double din DVD player later when I win the lottery. I spoke with the dealer and they can supply a new double din dash benzel (around $200). But while writing this post this is what I found, very interesting!!

Not sure what year your truck is, but for a 2007 $200 is about three times too much. Check eBay - there are `06-`07 bezels on there for around $70 most times. Should be true for other years as well.

ETA: - Apparently `05 and earlier trucks only have 1. 5 DIN. Gotta cut and mod for a double DIN unit.

I ordered bezel for a truck that had factory nav, then adapted to fit my AVN 5500 using a dash kit. Used VIN for truck off lot at dealership so DC would ship one for factory nav, the part would not show as being available with my VIN. It was only $70 which surprised me... got part next day, which surprised even more. I will try to post pics soon.

No kidding, I thought so too. I called up the fellas that are behind dodgeparts.com for some other parts and also inquired about the double din benzel. They were able to find one for my dash in stock. It cost around $90, about the same if I got it through E-Bay with shipping. What was interesting was that the parts fellas can charge what ever they want for the parts. I lost a lot of respect for the first dealership.
