Double Din Install in 2005?

Ok, made the last ZERO percent payment on my truck, now want to put a Kenwood unit in it. .



Has anyone with an '05 found a double din bezel for this year of truck, or did yall go custom?

I have an 06. Is the dash different?? I just bought the bezel for the Nav unit. 70 bucks on ebay.

I am not sure. I do know that the original size on my 05 is 1. 5 din and I think the 06's with NAV were a little larger than double din. .

I have been looking into this as well. No one makes a bezel for a double din for the 02-05 model Dodge ram dash. You either have to go custom fiberglass work or just do a flip-up, which is what I am leaning towards. Screen size is the same as a 2din and it is more simple to install. Plus here in AK NOONE can do quality work to where it would look good.

I am getting the Kenwood flipup unit that has NAV, bluetooth, steering wheel controls, backup camera, the whole enchilada!

There is a company on Ebay from Germany that is making a aluminum replacement bezel for the 02-05, but it is $200 plus s&H from Germany! I dont think it looks that good either. That is the only other one I have found.

I think you are right! I like Kenwood stuff and have it installed now. .

The 696 looks nice. I think the foldout will be the way to go, less cost and less hassle overall.

Kenwood unit

I've had this unit since I bought my truck in '04. It has navigation and I need a new digital tv tuner since the analog version no longer receives much. Had tv till the switch to digital.

Have to go custom for an '05 double din. I put in the Pioneer AVIC D3 system, made custome bracket mounts, and filled in the sides with a plastic piece. The original head unit, oval in shape, is about an inch wider than a standard DIN width. I have thought about fiberglassing to completely fill the holes, but it never bothered me enough to care.
I've never taken any pics though, sorry.
