When I put the '02 motor in my truck I used the '92 style mounts. The motor seems to move alot. Mounts are not broken. I have been thinking of installing a second set of mounts so there would be two per side. Mounting holes are there. Has anyone done this to their truck? My main concern is that when I shut it down it wiggles alot, I wonder what it does when I am under full load. My current hp is somewhat above stock.

I think double mounts might be a good idea, especially for a high torque engine. When the engine twists theoretically it shouldn't hurt, that is assuming everthing rotates exactly on center. We know that's not true so it has to be torquing the transmission shaft and it's internals which can't help longevity.

I don't think you could get hurt by double mounts as long as they keep the engine centered... . I think they may help.

Well Ron its always something right. Well when you get everything fabbed up send me some pics. I have been having problems in the past with the motor mount bolts sheering off. I think I am on my 3rd set. They are grade 8 bolts, but so were the last ones I put in. You know I should probably check them again I am glad you brought this up. I think your on to something.

The driver side is the one that needs the most help. The other side is in compression. Have you ever broken the passenger side Stomp?

The bigger trucks that use the 6bt have rear mounts on the side of the bell housing and move the load out somewhat and they also have through bolts much larger than ours.

I have not broke a passenger side bolt yet. I think Ron is really on to something here. I have thought of chaining it down, but I think another motor mount should do the trick. I wonder what all of the sled pullers do? Maybe they would have more insite for us?

Are you guys using the "interlocking" motor mounts? I know on the big gassers they used regular mounts, then had interlocking ones that have steel tabs on them so the isolator can not be torn. My 93 has the interlocking style on if from factory.

I have had several buddies break the regular mounts on well built big block trucks that got ALOT of abuse, but when they went to the interlocking style the problems ceased.

The next thing would be running a chain around the cross member or a cable to a couple of bolts that was slightly loose, and would tighten when the engine torqued. How are your trans/ tcase mounts? I have broken those on my diesel before.

Just wondering.
