Competition 24V Cylinder Head - Chop and Port

Competition Drag Racing SBC

So I finally got the whammy transmission in, now I need mo power, so... ... I already have a set of injectors arranged to be installed ASAP, but am curious as to what chip will stack best with a Drag box (Edge), I was told Van Aaken,or Blue Chip, anyone out there double stacked with a drag box? Thanks... Oh yeah, what is the biggest injector that will still work for the occasional bit of towing.

You can use the Edge Drag for timing and get a Blue Chip Redline if you want more RPM and stack it.

Other than that, your Edge Drag does fueling and timing is about the best all around box available.

more fuel

If I double stack, can I not get more fuel into her? More power? I know on the 305hp with no drugs and a big single, double stacked 500-600 is easily obtainable, so why not mine?

you can stack a 24v with a timing box and a fueling box. Your drag comp does both and it does it very well. some guys stack a timing box like an ez with a TST fueling box that has no timing. But your drag comp has both built in.

as mentioned above, all you might want is some more rpm like the redline box offers. other than that, you are getting just about all you can from the electronics.

Us 3rd gen'ers have the fuel rail pressure to play with too... That is why we have 3 things for Boxes to do, and not many manufactures make a box that does all three (just Bullydog that i know, plus Quadzilla)

I double stacked my old comp box with the diablo power puck, lots of power, but the de-fuel that you get with the comp led to erratic power delivery, so we removed it, I have yet to try it with the drag box (which doesn't defuel on level 5) but that is the kind of stacking I mean, a chip that plugs directly into the pump, I think the Van Aaken does..... not sure though.

Maybe Trash Dawg will chime in there.

He used the superchips tuner with the drag comp, he also tried Hypertec and it did not work as well as the superchips tuner.

The comp is hard to beat, but if you want alittle more on the rollers get a superchips tuner to load on the truck in conjunction with your comp. It is worth about 30 RWHP on a M1750.

The down side to it is it will add on top of the comps already added timimg. In your case (ETC) i dont think it would really matter.

Stacking the VanAken gained 10hp, I also stacked that hypertech and blew my headgasket in 10 miles. Stacking the superchips with a drag comp gained around 30 hp. Comparing the EZ vs superchips w/boost fooler. The superchips was about 15 hp more. I think a good combo would be a tuner and fueling box. The tuners have a very good power curve.

What about using a Blue Box 3 wire (just fueling) an Edge EZ (timing) and then a superchips tuner????

What would that produce?? Just lots of bucking and lots of timing??

FWIW-- the ETC has more timing programmed into the Factory ECM's timing curve than does the ETH. Very slight, but true.

hmm, so what would the superchips tuner run for price, plus will it drive up my EGT's? I NEED 500rwhp, how I go about getting it is the only issue... .

joaker I didn't see any injectors in your sig you will need some to get to 500hp. On my 01 HO I ran 481 hp at maymadness last year. with a hx 40 drag comp and 150 hp honed injectors egts at the end of the run would be 1450-1550

Justin I think that might work alright.

I would also consider marco catcher ecm upgrade, not much more than the superchips but oh so much more bang for your buck

disclaimer , I do sell the upgrade, but it works very well :D

Did the VP-44 suffer the wrath of the double stack? That is one thing I have been cautioned on about double stacking at all. What is the story on these Catcher ECM's, what do they do, and how is it achieved? How is it installed? MPG increases? Hp numbers? Trashdawg, you read the sig correctly, I just don't know how big I can go without sacrificing driveability and the ability to tow from time to time, need the info, I am looking at something along the lines of about 120 hp sticks??? But I am not sure if that will be enough to tag the 500 mark? I guess the dyno is the only way to detrmine it. Just seems dumb to spend money on something that won't quite cut it.

I was not talking about the catcher. I was talking about the problem I had with stacking a superchip on top of a Drag-comp. If you do not unplug the Drag comp befor installing the superchip for some reason the superchip turns the Drag into a EZ. I went home after the Dyno and uninstalled the superchip and then unpluged the drag then reinstalled the superchip then pluge the drag back in now it works a lot better. Only another Dyno run (on the same Dyno) will tell the reall truth. Has anyone else had this problem? I have a HO pump in a 5sp truck.

The only reason I have the superchip is that It came with the truck. For what it cost its not worth it in my mind. There are a lot of better options out There for just over $400. 00 And no I do not think one single truck broke at the Dyno for any reason.

Is there anyone out there running the catcher in a similar configuration as I would be? Or running it at all on the same type of rig? Also, is there yet a concensus as to what brand of injectors is the way to go?
