A good friend of mine is a DC dealer tech and he told me last night they just voided a customer's powertrain warranty. This truck came in with a bad injector, the star? hotline evidently has a hold on injectors and asked the dealer to look for a certain few codes. It had them and they denied the injector claim and filed the paperwork to void him. it was Banks equiped if that matters.

I'll try to get the specific codes they are looking for, but you guys might take caution when turning in a warmed over truck for an injector problem.

So now theres an 06 blue 3500 truck running around central IL with a voided warranty right now. He came back three days later with a second one bad trying to get warranty work again under the cash repair ticket he paid the first time, assuming the problem was related. Bummer!

Can't :-{} at Dodge on that one. Bad injector with a pressure box. That's the risk you take with bombing.

My only concern with this is what is the code. Is it possible a non-bombed truck could throw this code?

Well obviously this means that people should not be puting these "boxes" on their trucks now unless they want to do the work/pay for the work, themselves.

Well, DC then had better come out with a stock 600hp/1650 lbft. truck ... simple as that.

Its Not the Pressure, it"s the Fuel in most cases. Cummins Has tested these Bosch Injectors @ 30,000 PSI for unbelievable amounts of time. If you can possibly filter to 3 microns you may never see a problem under thousands of hours or Miles. The filters in stations Here in Minnesota are NOT required to filter less than 10 microns or change them less than 12 months,( most of the stations around here filter at 20 microns) A quality 3 Mic filter is around $30. 00 and needs to be change frequently, a 20 Mic is about $8. 00 and can last Months. A sure sign of bad fuel is how fast it is pumped,If it pumps slow than the filter is plugged and the bypass is engage,or a problem with the system,at any rate STOP fueling and leave. Never Fuel in windy conditions were contaminates are in the air,I have NEVER seen Banks raise pressure above 23. 500 PSI on any CR.

If they voided the engine, transmission, tc, and driveline warranty I wouldnt have a problem.

But the whole warranty that is robbery.

If the radio goes bad or the bumper falls off they should cover it and by law have to (magnusson moss).

The original post referred only to the power train warranty. Other than that I agree.

So a code or two is grounds to void an entire vehicle warranty?? G. M. supposedly replaces injectors without blinking an eye. D. C. is getting onto shakey ground IMO, yes if you want to play you have to pay but the WHOLE warranty over fueling or injector codes??

If this is how D. C wants to handle things I really do hope the dumb ba**erds drop Cummins so some other company can use the ISB.

I have many bombs and wouldn't think of asking D. C to cover my power or drive train. The best part is Banks claims that their mods "Do not in any way void the factory warranty because our mods are tuners not programers", that is just what Banks told me (when I was very ignorant and didn't know about TDR). Liars, that is what Banks equates to, TST will straight up tell you that you are in no mans land. I like honest people and companies and Banks is not, besides that their products are middle of the road at best, and ridiculously overpriced.

well like I said they voided his powertrain warranty. As far as the injectors, if they are on hold and cannot be ordered without special concent from the higher ups. I believe he called it the "STAR Hotline" this is where parts come from when dealers order them.

they are on hold and cannot just be ordered and replaced. A hold could indicate serveral things like: a quality control problem, inventory shortages, known problems with a "fix kit" needed or further tests required like in this case. its an indicator that several trucks have come in with injector faillures and they are trying to get a handle on it and isolate the problem. If you think back to around mid 2001 the same thing happened with lift pumps.

These folks arent stupid. They train thier techs to look for tell tale things to indicate a "box" had been used. Personally, I dont blame them. I am my own warranty station comes to mind here.

I'll try to get the codes and test they asked for when this happened.

the law says that it must be a proven failure to void warranty, codes or not---i'd get a lawyer and ask dodge to put it in writing. i've done it before and it works! :-laf

Any one who lets there warranty get voided without a fight or without them proving a box or something else caused the failure is crazy.

I totaly agree! According to law, a warranty has to be voided in writing, by the manufacturer! :-{}

We had a local guy have the same problem with D. C. . Luckily he belonged to the yellowstone 4x4 association. they helped him out with the write words to say . He ended up taking Chrysler to court and the minute they hit the court room steps Chrysler gave in and covered his truck under warranty. Chrysler is blowing smoke when they say they can deny warranty. take them to court and see what happens. BTW Ken Krause at Auto World can tell you all the specifics. He posts often on the cummins repower forum.

Why is the fuel and fuel stations to blame? You don't think that Banks is responsible, or the truck owner who modified his truck and Dodge/ Cummins for not installing adequate filtering on these trucks if your statements regarding filtering is accurate? Perhaps Bosch, Cummins and Dodge should engineer the truck to run on the fuel thats in the market, not what they wish was in the market. Can you please post a copy of the testing you are referring to? I'd be very interested to read this. Is Banks going to step up and help this guy?
