Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Dowel pin done

I hope someone is keeping score on the dowel pin fixes on TDR. I fixed mine along with the alternator replacement,Thank to the members here,I fixed it without to much trouble. Marlon Phillips

Dowel pin problem

Would like to warn all owners not to take the dowel pin problem too lightly. My early 12 valve 98 with 87K was just fixed at Cummins in Phoenix with the TST Products, Inc kit. My dowel pin was halfway out. For approx 450. 00 now will save many more times that amount.

I changed the front cover seal/installed a wear sleeve on a fleet truck , cab and chassis (1998 24 valve with almost 300,000 miles), the pin would have come out with light pressure from small pliers, I tapped it back in, then staked it with our jig.



I think its possibly inevitable with enough time/mileage.
