NJ Dyno Day

Greetings! The Dowel Pin Jig Kit is on the West side of the Cascades today, and we are planning a BOMB party on Saturday 5/19 at my house in Renton. While I don't have the spread that Rob has, we can find space for quite a few trucks. We plan to get started around 8 a. m. , as we have quite a few trucks lined up.

Here is the list of trucks to do:
Scollins
AlaskDave
Bob Dreher
MikeR
Slybones
tschwab
cdaledh
wrward812@hotmail.com
jhays579@earthlink.net

I think we will be pushing the time envelope here, so I don't think we can add any more trucks to the list at this time. But, if anybody else wants to drop by to BS, turn some wrenches or just hang out, you are welcome to come. I'll either get a few pizzas or a big sandwich. Or maybe I'll fire up my turkey deep fryer! We'll see. Bring some snacks or beverages if you like.

AlaskDave and I will meet at my house tonight (Wednesday) to go over the kit, instructions, and maybe get my truck done as a test mule. Please email me for directions to my house if you plan to attend: my email address is scollins@home. off-road.com

Bummer,I won't be able to be there. I'll be in the recording studio all day saturday cutting some tracks. That's one less truck off the list.

-Mike

I'll be there. I should do mine, but with the list so long, there probably wouldn't be time. It will be interesting to see what's involved in doing this fix.
Andy

The part of the fix that actually requires the jig takes about 5 minutes, the rest of the time is just spent on turning bolts, about an hour. If each person who wants to do the fix shows up with basic hand tools a lot of trucks could be done in a day. The main problem will be that once a truck is torn down for the fix it isn't drivable, this will make a long air hose or portable compressor necessary in order to blow out clips. Plan ahead for that. -Bill

Thanks for the tip, Bill.
I'm almost out the door. It will take me over an hour to get there, so I'll be there a little after 8 with donuts & orange juice.
I'm bringing plenty of tools plus a creeper (don't know if we need one).
Andy

We got five trucks done this am, Scott worked his last night for a total of six.
Bill, have an Email coming for you with information regarding the return of the tooling. Thank you, Dave

Well, that's one less thing to worry about. Now, about that 5th gear nut problem... #ad

Thanks for the help, guys, especially to Scott for having us over and for providing the Subway sandwiches.
Andy

Whew, glad to have that finally done.

A HUGE thanks to CPFF for use of the tooling, and to Scott & his wife for hosting the event, guiding the program, and buying lunch. Thanks also to all the guys who showed up and helped each other out. I had a great time and met new friends.

Bob

For those who will be doing this fix, I'd like to suggest that you inspect your serpentine belt. This would be the perfect time to change it if it's worn.
Andy

I too would like to thank CPFF for the tool and instructions, Scott for hosting this event, and everyone else that was there to lend hand. There are now 6 more trucks that will not have this failure. By the way, none of the pins had moved out so we were able to do the fix without removing the cover.
