I recently inveseted in a lighted mini scope to go in and determine

if there is a problem.

If so installing a bracket underneath the bolt directly beside it

is a great fix!

was you able to see the pin? with your new scope. this was tried by another member, but could not get deep enough passed the gears for a visual. that method is a tab method of holding the pesky pin.

How???

How did you get the scope thingy in the gear case to see the dowel pin? Do you already have a jig hole in the gear case?

Inquiring minds want to know!:D

THE SCOPE IS SMALL ENOUGH TO GO IN THROUGH THE

FRONT CRANK CASE VENT!

THE SCOPE CAN GO BETWEEN THE FRONT PLATE AND THE GEARS

AND SEE 90 DEGREES

Cummins told me that they usually find that the bolts inside the gearcase that are accessible need to have loctite and retorqued , I would imagine that this is one of the major causes of the pin working its way out. I thought for $250 it was a very cheap piece of mind to have them put the tab on, loctite and retorque bolts, new seal and readjust the TPS .

should there be?

hot oil will go just about any place it can go, be it seep, drip, or run, with this in mind, loose bolts, just a tad mind you, would there be evidence of oil seeping between the case and block if these bolts have backed out any? a question that i have had since the dowel pin problem has came about. any movement at all on the case would promote pin movement.
