Down shifting question ?

I have a 2005 2500 with a automatic transmission, and when pulling my travel trailer down a hill with the cruise control on, and tow/haul mode my transmission will down shift after a gain of 6 to 7 mph. My friend has a 2006 2500 with a automatic transmission with cruise control and in tow/haul mode keeps picking up speed. Is there something wrong with his truck,or does the dealer have to enable it like the raise your idle with the cruise program? He has to have that done on his or is that part of that program update. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like his '06 has a problem or he has a problem understanding and using it.

My '06 had a factory supplied Jacobs exhaust brake. With cruise set on a steep grade it would downshift and relock the converter and activate the exhaust brake.

Mine does the downshift too, don't have e-brake but do have the high idle flash. bg
