Aluminized or stainless 4 inch exhaust?

2004.5 600 Chips

Just wanted to say how impressed I am with DPP. I got home from work today to find a package from DPP with a service bulletin and a new brush / cover in it. Apparently they have had reports of brush problems on the 24V causing a motor inop condition. Well I have never had a problem, never once complained, and here is a repair kit that unexpectedly showed up in my mailbox! That is Customer Service!!!! Thank you DPP!!!!!!!! BTW the FASS is great, and the only way to go IMHO and this reinforces that. :)

Did you go with a 95 gph or a 150 system? I went with a 150 and wondered if that was to big? I already have gotten it I havent had the time yet to put it on but I will this weekend seemed really easy to do, see sig below, was it an older kit? thanks

Im dealing with a intermittent Motor in op myslef. My fass kit FASS-150. Just started happening today. Sounds like the brushes but Ive noticed that on some of the newer fass kits Ive been installing that they have a ground wire in them but my kit must use the grounding circut through the factory liftpump connector. Hope its an easy one

I am confused, I received a couple of caps plus the brush today but the literature states it is for a FASS -150, I've the FASS II - 95. Does this update apply to me? They also mentioned something about a ground wire, on mine there is a relay that attached to the positive and negative on the battery, so do I need to run an additional ground as well and change out the ground brush? I'll have to check on the caps, anyone know if I can change them out while on the truck or do I need to remove the pump from the truck? I know lots of questions, but like I said, I'm confused. Thought I 'd ask here before trying to get ahold of someone at DPP.

TIA,

Casey

HOOF, my pump says FASS 150, on the tag but is the 95gph model. U would have to look on the original box where there are a couple of check boxes that denotes the gph. That confused me too, I had to call Piers to figure it out. DPP would could confirm the gph rating with the serial number I assume.

My pump is a newer one, less than 2 months. The brush caps are sealed and o-ringed, which was a upgrade by DPP to adress the caps that leaked. I also have the wire harness that is 14ga wire with the fuse up by the battery and relay with a positive and negative (ground) running directly to the battery. The way I understand it is that this was a upgrade to address issues with previous wiring. The stock truck LP wiring is only used to trip the relay.

DCulter, I have the 95gph model. I was told by both DPP and Piers that the 150gph was only "needed" on a HIGHLY modified truck. I have a Edge EZ, ScottyII and thats about it. I think that the 95gph is technically over kill. I think that the stock LP puts out like 45gph or some where around there. If your stock fuel pick up works with it or you plan on a modified fuel pick up, I dont think that there would be any problem with the 150gph.

Hope this helps. I am real happy with my FASS

So has anyone done the updates yet ? I've got the check ball and brushes to do. Just wondering how tough and how big of a mess is this going to make. I suppose I have to have the tank pretty much on E to do it.

I think that the Brushes ( atleast how it looks to me) would nessecitate the removal of the pump from the truck.

As for the check ball, i dont think too much fuel will run out and this can be done with the pump on the truck.

Just did the update. . it takes less than an hour to do. I took the pump all the way off the truck. It just seemed easier that way

I checked my brushes in under 5 minutes. I used a stubby screwdriver and was able to pull them right out. I have a short bed truck. Wonder if the pumps are all "indexed" the same way. Was I just lucky or has the design changed?

Changed my caps and brush in under 5 minutes just like tractorface. I also have a short bed truck and FASS II. Was ready to drop the pump, but was able to get a screwdriver on both caps to remove and replace. There is another thread out there with guys reporting problems with their FASS, personally I like this setup much better than the oem pump.

Later,

Casey
