It's a secret. Cummins is supposed to have a 40% off sale on them according to their homepage. MidStates did not have any in stock recently and did not mention a sale, also was proud of the kit too... .

My take on it is, you pretty much already have everything in the kit, you might even have it all in duplicate in your truck toolbox. I had a kit, then sold it. IIRC, it contains, (KD Tools) feeler gauges, 10mm-15mm possibly higher 3/8" drive sockets, ratchet, screwdriver maybe, 13 or 14mm combination wrench, barring tool, instruction sheet on how to change filters, and adjust valves, filter wrench. . pretty much everything you would need to adjust valves and change oil and filters. I would not give the $55 list price, but if it was 40% off, I'd pick one up to have in the truck for roadside issues etc.

How's that? Maybe someone else can chime in with more info.

With this one kit (P/N 3399869) you will have everything you need to do an oil and oil filter change, a fuel filter change and a valve lash adjustment. All 16 pieces fit neatly into a rugged, custom-designed carrying case for easy transporting.

3/8" Drive Sockets - 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 17mm and 19mm general-purpose sockets for tightening and loosening components.

3/8" to 1/2" Socket Adapter - Lets you use the 3/8" ratchet in combination with the barring socket to rotate the flywheel.

6-Inch 3/8" Drive Extension - For loosening or tightening fasteners in difficult locations.

3/8" Ratchet - Flex-head ratchet for hard-to-reach places. Designed to work with the barring socket.

Feeler Gauge Set - This universal feeler gauge set has the Cummins-recommended thickness to check and adjust valves.

14mm and 15mm Combination Wrenches - The 14mm is used to loosen and tighten the valve adjustment screw locknut. The 15mm wrench is used on the valve cover-holding capscrew.

Barring Socket - Special socket designed for rotating the crankshaft while performing a valve adjustment.

Screwdriver - "Stubby" screwdriver holds the adjusting screw while tightening the locknut.

Filter Wrench - Fits most oil filters, as well as many fuel filters.

Alright. Not that I will buy one, just curious.

And Bob, I thought you were stepping down from moderator duties? Or have things improved?
