Dr. Performance Predator Cummins Approved?

I read on an eBay auction that the Dr. Performance line of boxes are "Cummins Approved. "



If this is true it would really add value to the product for people who are under warranty even though the warranty is through DC. It would give one leverage in arguing a failure should be covered.



Can anyone confirm or deny that this is in fact true?

What was that guy Cummins first name that said he approved it ? It is not up to Cummins in the first place in a Dodge Ram truck, it is up to DC. You can not always have your cake and eat it too. Any performance modification has the potential to VOID WARRANTY.

From the MOPAR Parts Catalogue:

Mopar Performance parts are sold "as is" unless otherwise noted. This means that parts sold by Mopar Performance carry no warranty whatsoever. Implied warranties, such as warranties of merchantability, are excluded. (An implied warranty of merchantability means that the part is reasonably fit for the general purpose for which is was sold). The entire risk as to quality and performance of such parts is with the buyer. Should such parts prove defective following their purchase, the buyer and not the manufacturer, distributor or retailer, assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repair. Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep® vehicle and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or parts are used for competition. The addition of performance parts does not by itself void a vehicle's warranty. However, added performance parts (parts not originally supplied on the vehicle from the factory) are not covered by the vehicle's warranty, and any failure that they may cause is also not covered by the vehicle's warranty.

So they COULD void your warranty as stated above but don't NECESSARILY.

I just called Dr. Performance. Great Guys. Straight answers.



NOT "Cummins Approved" OR "Mopar Approved. "



I know, I know. You all told me above. I was just ASKING. Sheesh! :-laf So stop with the "I Told You So's!"



He went on to say that some Cummins retailers are selling the Dr. Performance boxes.



The Dr. Performance rep thinks eBay seller is confusing the fact that the Cummins retailer is "Selling" the box and saying "Approved" by Cummins when it's really not. Big difference.



The said that boxes like this will probably never be "approved" but they (Cummins and DC) might try to reverse engineer them to learn how to raise power for future ratings.



They also said the Stage III is it for the 2005 610. No stage IV.

Cummins did have an approved uprate kit for the 12 valves pre-egr engines. It took them to 230hp 600 lbft torque.

It consisted of injection pump,injectors and wastegate actuator set for 28 psi. No smoke under any conditions,no gauges nec and great mileage. A bit pricey.

I was careful. That's why I exposed myself to ridicule here by asking. Then I called Dr. Performance directly. To their credit, they said that it is in no way approved by anyone... .



Your website has the nice pricing policy information. But it's very outdated. Doesn't even list many of the products for the 2005 models. They just list the BullyDog (but no TripleDog) and Van Aaken Boxes and don't even mention the 2005's. I'd have bought there but I really like to see websites that are up to date and than provide me with the necessary information to make a buying decision.

Agreed. It's frustrating when sites don't have good/current info.



And having a 2006 truck makes things even more difficult (understandably, many dealers/shops have not had a chance to test many 05 hop-up parts on 06 trucks yet).

You're right, but there are only so many hours in the day and after 12 of so I get to the point of going home etc. Currently we are waiting for relase info form Edge, Bully Dog, and van Aaken on the 2006 Dodges for products. They will be updated along with the 2005's ASAP.
