Re: Where have I seen Naven Johnson?

Thanks for all the comments. I especially love the criticism of things such as the number or posts I've submitted and my good words for Banks. I happen to think the Banks products are light years ahead of their competitors. If you don't agree, fine. As for my limited number of posts... I simply have better things to do than sit and jaw jack all day on TDR like some of you people with thousands of posts to your credit. When I mentioned over- fueling, I was reffering to those of you who add obscene amounts of fuel without the benefit of better air flow. For example, there are numerous companies offering modules as stand alone products. BD, Edge, Bullydog etc. etc.

They're all cut from the same cloth and from what I've read on TDR there seem to be plenty of bottom feeders ready and willing to buy into it. I like going first class so I bought Banks. Call it pricy if you will but the bottom line is this. . they've been doing this the longest, they offer the most complete packages and they're focused on preserving engine longevity. Those things matter to me as well as many other diesel owners. That's why Banks enjoys the lion share of the market and the piddly companies like Bullydog and Edge fight over the table scraps. By the way, what's a Bullydog? Maybe can be my next thread.

Ignorance can never be overcome and is a wasted battle.

Once again, what is your technical expertise on the other products??? Do you know the code and how the 3d air fuel grids work??. .

Thanks for being the Laughing stock of the TDR #ad

I need a good laugh now and then... .

J-eh...

EDIT BTWN (by the way newbie) all the posts that most of us have are about actual technical talk and sharing of ideas not just stirring s#!t. Can't believe you payed to do this Naven...

Concerning your overfueling comment,Naven, you did not make that clear about people failing to add boost to go along with the fuel. You did not even say anything about that in your original post. Most of us know enough about how these fuel systems work, or know somebody who does,we know enough to get it right. Your comments are totally lacking in technical expertise and knowledge. Banks has built themselves into such a big company, by providing parts and service to many people like yourself, that do not have the mechanical skills to understand and work on these vehicles. Their extensive advertising plays no small part in ensuring their success.

I'm glad you like Banks, you are welcome to them. However, it is quite amusing to see you take slams at BD, Edge, and Bullydog, and call them "piddly". They are quite successful companies themselves, with many employees. There are even more companies out there with similar products and services, just as good.

Your obvious naivette in putting down such companies does not lend credence to the technical opinions you express here.

You can express your support of Banks without ridiculing other companies in the diesel performance market. You are not doing Gale Banks any favors by expressing views that show your ignorance and lack of understanding.

As for "jaw-jackin" and number of posts, The TDR is how I keep in touch with friends all over the world who share my interests. It's a shame you chose to cheat yourself out of the same opportunity, simply by expressing a one-track, narrow-minded, derogatory viewpoint that many members find offensive. Not because it's Banks, but because you are attacking other companies. If you can't understand any of the above, get out the dictionary and look it up.

I'm done here, I refuse to lose credibility in the eyes of my friends by engaging in a mean-spirited battle of wits with an unarmed person .

I got one thing to say!

Do we have to be BIG to be GOOD?

The three that you mentioned are definitely not scrap eaters.

I know them (personally), I like them, I respect them and I will back them as long as I or they are in business.

Briar... I love you man. :D

Doggone. I've just been called a "bottomfeeder", because of what I put on my truck.

It was because of all the jawjackin' I read on here that I spent the money on airflow and gauges first, before I overfueled my truck.

I gotta say though that I find those smoke pictures really inspiring. How can any true diesel lover look at those plumes and say that's a bad thing?

DR. performance is out.

Just to let everyone know there are three Dodge trucks on our block that have the fase two from DR performance in them and two are 3500 and a 2500, now one 3500 has around 40000 very very tuff miles on it ,the 2500 well she is a school bus driver and its only for back and forth to work , but he still claimes she needed it . as for my 3500 it has only 6000 miles on it and 5000 of it has been hauling a 11. 5 foot fully loaded camper on it. this summer I took it throught the rockies and thats were my wife really hated the truck because I refuse to be last or second to the top.

psssssst "hey man meet me in the alley, I got your fix... ... ... Some extra fuel... ... ... "

signed the local DDD or dr feelgood

he he he Fuel rules fuel forever... . more fuel the better... i take mine through an iv... . the wife likes her fuel too

damn overfueled is the way to go..... i need a fix right now thanks for this thread it was the first time i read it ... ... ... hmmmm piers has been wanting me to put in my delivery valves... ... ..... maybe this week... ... . heck with the valet switch

Phase II?

Richie 2, how much did the phase 2 kit set you back? The phase II should net you at 280 to the wheels.

At one point I heard Doc was going to sell his business to a invester for around 3 million. The invester would then sell franchises for 250,000 to recoup his money. Yesterday I was told that deal didn't work out. I also was told the Denver location has been closed. This was a strong location for "P" once.

Let's recap, if the scuttlebutt is accurate:

1. ) The Kellogg location where so much work was done on brand new trucks for Dave Smith Motors is either closed or at least paralyzed. This of course is because of a falling out with DS Motors, "P"s meal ticket.

2. ) Phoenix didn't last long and is out of business.

3. ) Denver is closed, probably the second most popular facility.

4. ) The franchising deal didn't work out.

If this is 70% accurate then it doesn't look good for "P".

Did I read where he has a fueling box now. It was in the TDR mag. That would seem to go against the doctrine according to "P".

Just my reflections on the subject.

Caught this thread late,, but here's what I have to say... (caution, sarcastic opinions coming)

Oh boy,, I guess I should sell my stuff now,, my gauges, all three of 'em,, My overpriced Autometer (Didn't do enough research paid ~$200)Fuel pressure (electronic), My $60 boost gauge, and my $190 Pyro setup. Then I should sell my ~$650 PE COMP and my $350 DD1's (Caught a "special" non-dealer type deal)

Let's see. I'm making 370-375 HP, with ~$1,450.

TDR Members,, Should I sell my stuff and go for a Banks, or Dr. P kit ??

I know I didn't get the best deals on my gauges,,,, it wasn't WHERE I bought them, but the TYPE of gauge I bought. (Should of got a mechanical w/isolator. )

Naiven,

I don't feel there's any reason to run down companies just because they don't bring in the figures like banks. I have been in the Drag Racing industry all my life, and Banks is a very popular make by many and dis-liked by many.

There is two completely different markets that I see:

1. Those who do lots of research in order to make an educated decision for there application.

2. Those who make there choice based on a magazine add or what they read in an article in a magazine.

I would also say that a large reason for banks sucess is that website like these aren't as popular as I feel they should be. Most companies on this website are unheard of by many, so consumers really don't know all there options.

At my local race track a lot of family friends own diesels for towing there race cars and feel that there banks powered trucks are the fastest trucks in the game. I have had several discussion with lots of them and they all informed me that as long as I kept using and selling no-name products that me and my customers would always be eating there dust. Funny thing is once they raced me they were singing a completely different tune except I couldn't hear it they were to far behind. :D

My point is that if you are happy with what you got than they did there job. But if it were me I would want more performance less bucks not more bucks less performance. I like the fact that when I look at a diesel powered truck beside me with either a Banks or another local competitor's badge on the side of there truck that I can give them a smerk and introduce them to my smokey patch, as I leave them sitting there. :D :D :D

Just my opinion take it for what it's worth.

Nowel, there is a small Dr. P shop here in Pasco too, I might venture by tomorrow to see if it looks "open. " It is not very big though and there are no signs and I don't think they were all that busy. It was basically a large shop at someone's residence. There are a couple of Dr. P trucks that run around here with all sorts of graphics on them but I haven't seen them lately.

For a loooong time the white dually you see on their ads and supposedly did the LSR and Pikes Peak and whatnot just sat parked behind the shop here and collected dust this summer. It didn't appear anyone was driving it. It finally disappeared after 2-3 months.

Ah, Just a question for Naiven.

Are you the guy that gets better fuel mileage the faster you go with the Bank setup that we read about in a nother post?

:D :D Now y'all know why I sit back and keep my mouth shut concerning the technical aspects of our Cummins. I can recognize a Dodge CTD 2 out of 3 times - when it's pointed out to me:D

Otherwise, I read your posts and see what seems to be the best products on the market that I may be able to buy maybe next year or when my wife says I can.

Wayne

I guess this means guys like Dave Mitchell, HVAC, My 6 Eats V8's, BPine, KatDiesel... ... are all bottom feeders :D

Well then, at least Godzilla and I are in the best of company

Tom
