Just had Dr. Performance stage II. Wow... what a change. Unbelieveable power, fuel mileage went from 15mpg to 22mpg. I had $2400 worth of Banks stuff done to my old truck and what a waste. Lost fuel mileage, truck overheated all the time. I would never do Banks again to anything. Dr. Performance is everything they claim. Why don't I read about it in TDR?

Got dyno numbers? How much power were you supposed to get? How much did it cost?

Dr Performance is not well liked on this board because if his attitude. Banks and Dr. Performance are in the same catagory far as I am concerned. Rubbed me the wrong way from the begining. I will say that Banks is attempting to change their ways with a new website, and an attempt to work on customer service (the biggest gripe against them), does this mean I'll buy a kit from them? No not at all, $3800 is getting me everything I want in my truck to the tune of 425hp or so... that will include a new TC and VB.

I'll build my truck how I want it with what I want on it. Picking and choosing the best components for each specific function.

This is my opinion, not the opinion of the TDR (since I am a moderator).

Thanks for the response. The guys in the NW were just great plus I dont know any of the technical stuff. Sounds like you have a great truck,Katman.

I have a couple of questions. What does Dr Performance do to the engine? Is there a booklet/web site discribing modifications?

My Two questions.

Its not "finished" yet still a work in progress, but thats the plans and everything is here except for the TC and VB.

The most important question is are you happy with your truck? If so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks... ..... bout your truck that you bought for yourself.

The first line of my last post is a sincere question, dyno #'s, price and advertised? I am curious.....

Do a search on Dr Performance, and Banks and you will see what I mean in the "old" posts.....

When I called Dr. P they did two things that turned me away immediately. One, they bashed every other vendor as well as other products or procedures. Two, they wouldn't answer my questions and were intimidated when I tried to ask technical questions. They dismissed me as a fool.
You guys know I'm no guru, but if you read this site long enough, a good deal of solid knowledge sinks in. Even for me. #ad

Notwithstanding, Mr. Snow, it's your truck and your happy... ... . cool. Actually, I know two local guys who are delighted with Dr. P.

Whatever melts the butter #ad

I am a bit confused, up above you stated you have the Stage II kit. On their site it lists :

1998 1/2 - 2001 ISB 24 Valve

  • Prescription Kit - $995. 00
    50 HP and 80 ft/lbs of torque
  • Phase I - $1995. 00
    70 HP and 150 ft/lbs of torque
  • Phase II - $2495. 00
    100 HP and 200 ft/lbs of torque
  • Phase III - $3495. 00
    150 HP and 350 ft/lbs of torque
You had a gain of 144hp according to the dyno which would indicate you had recieved Phase III? What type of dyno was it? Dynojet or Mustang? Have you thought bout taking it to a different independent dyno to verify the numbers?

Stage III injectors from Diesel Dynamics and BullyDog will get you 100hp for less then $600 bucks.

The Phase II kit shows 130hp gain on the 94 to 98 12v engines, I just "assumed" ya had a 24v engine since its in this forum.

One of the Dr P trucks was at the Vegas dyno days last Nov. It was delivered in an enclosed trailer behind a motor home and was a nice truck. The guy driving it was very nice and sincere to boot. The truck didn't dyno worth beans and was beat by many stockers. My conclusion is that Dr P may claim all this new added power on their trucks but they don't dyno worth a darn.

I'm kinda confused too. I've been to Kellog and every stage II dyno sheet I saw showed around 290hp to the ground. What year/spec truck do you have?

-Mike

Good job Mike R, the Phase II I watched dyno in Kellogg did 280. Sorry I missed you and the tall guy #ad

We are talking about numbers on a Dynojet people, FYI.

A set of DDII's and an EZ Edge will give you 299hp as well just to put it in perspective.

$1200 or less depending on who and where ya get them.

Sparrow to the nest, the Eagle has landed, I repeat, the Eagle has landed: Take the EZ with the DD2 put it on the ISB but don't forget to add the TC and VB for towing your TT and smokin those PSDs. LOL, LMFAO!
Sorry i'm feeling kinda funny.
PE= PowerEdge
PE EZ or just EZ= Poweredge EZ
DD= Diesel Dynamics, the number indicates the power stage
What gets me around here are the major HP junkies (torquis-smokimus dieselae)(all who are guilty, you know who you are). You can indentify the threads in which these creatures frequent by use of "censored" or ******* in context of any terms describing something sickly, fuel and charge-air system components.
Examples might include
"I just broke the roller on the dynojet, seems the >censored< was running at ***psi and with the new kryptonite planetary and input shaft, it's all getting to the ground thru my newly invented >censored<. "
Bad example, I know. I'm just jealous. #ad

response to Mike, You are right. Ilost the paper work but found it again. The 340 number was a sample of some one elses test. My final test was 299. 7. I will check as to type of dyno,,which is best, dtnojet or mustang?

Mr. Snow,
I'm going to install DD2's along with my 'EZ', very soon, because I have very low HP/Torque numbers right now, even with the 'EZ' alone. After, I'll have about $1100 when I'm done into B. O. M. B. ing, and I hope my 'rig' will pass yours in HP/Torque.
However, if it does not, I'm thinking seriously of going back to... gasp!... gas. #ad
