Does anyone have comments on Dr Performance? I just saw their ad in the recent TDR magazine and their kits look and sound impressive. A little pricey, 400 HP for $1995. 00 with just a module and injectors. They say the chips are bad/ not needed, too much fueling. Safe on the engine also. I'm considering their setup and was looking for some feedback. Thanks

Skip the Dr. Peeeformance... ;) WAY too much money for what you get... . You are better off buying a performance box and some injectors and keeping the extra $995! :D

As was already said, the common opinion among the TDR members regarding Dr. Performance products and claimed power increases is similar to the TDR feelings about Banks Engineering products. There is nothing wrong with these vendors and their products, but you get a very small power increase for the money they charge compared to most other aftermarket performance items.

Most TDR folks would steer you towards other options that are out there.

imo dr p is crooked. gives ya half the increase he advertises and charges 5 times as much as the competition:mad:

Ok,Ok, so the doctor is a fake. I'm new, just purchased a 99 5 spd. It also has a Dr Performance kit of some sort in it. It is about 30% stronger than stock. (I test drove both) That being said, and the good Dr. won't make return calls, What does it entail, and will dodge ruin what is there if it gets on the computer while in the shop?

There is a spokesman for Dr. P on the all diesel motorsport board.

His user name is Comp 461, feel free to ask him any questions.

I doubt that he would know anything about the Dr. P kits, he is "just a drag racer" as he says.

The $2,000 price tag wouldn't be so bad if you got gauges and an exhaust also.

As for thinking chips are bad, then why does he sell modules? These are one in the same for our trucks. ;)

dr. p

i have seen first hand results. claim is 400rwhp just down pipe, injectors, secret program(superchips1705micro tuner) and a twisted turbo. oh i almost forgot 'NO GAGES NEEDED'. all on a 2000 ford powerstroke. WISHFULL THINKING DOC.

Thanks guys, I'm satisfied with the performance, as I'll only pull about 5-6000, and it does that well. I just wish I could get an answer about how it is programed. I don't see any outside boxes, and I understand that Dodge/Cummins doesn't want any reprograming of the ECM. If that is how the gains are made, I would have to avoid getting it reflashed wouldn't I?

OBTW there is a 3" strightpipe for an exhaust if that is part of his "kit" that's pretty sad, as the welds are a gubbered up mess.

ive never seen dr. performance's add but just from what ya'll said there is no way id buy anything from him. and banks is just blowing money out the window

I met a guy on the job a few years ago that had the dr Performance kit on his 97. Dodge and he swore by it. He even had a personalized lic. plate saying (docterd). He claimed 465 rw hp. Don't know which kit he had though. Anyway he was very happy with it

one of the guys I work with has a 96 or 97 im not sure the year only that its a 12v and has a Doc. P kit in it and he thinks its good but what can ya do to a 12v of that years fuel plate and injectors maybe a turbo injection pump timing? I dont know but its not like the electronic stuff on the 24v

I had a great big soapbox spech started and backspaced it Lets just say only a fool would make claims that cant be proven in the real world on a product for these trucks with forums like this around!

i had dr p phase 2 for less than 24 hrs on my 98. 5. it was advertised to add 200 lb ft trq. my previous setup was a tm ecm and 275s. after adding the dr p i lost 7 mph on the test hill with a camper. wtf. the phase 2 probably didnt add more than 100 lb ft trq.

a local dlr bought into the dr p franchize. the dr came down and did what he said was a phase 2 and the dlr was impressed enuff with the way it ran and signed up. it did run well as i drove it. they did mine as a phase 2 and a dlr demo and neither ran that strong. betting dr p did truck with a phase 3 and told em it was a 2. thousand bucks more for a phase 3. fraud imo.

anyway,,, i took rig back to dlr and told em it lost power so they removed the dr p crap and installed my tm ecm and 275s. ran decent again but since it was a dlr that did the work, my wrrnty was voided by dc a couple years later as dc went snoopin thru dlrs paperwork. voided for having a dr p kit on for less than 24 hrs and 60 miles. dr p stated that wrrnty wouldnt be voided with his kit and also at the time dc did say ok to do a phase 2 kit w/o worrying bout voiding wrrnty. liars!!!

also dr p states that u dont need pyro. total bs. they did nuthin to up booost and pyro got way up there.

the dr p kit is a reprogram of ecm and some mild injectors. they plug into port under dash with a laptop. i was told that if it is reflashed it could erase dr p program. i was also told the injectors they install is just 275s

what a crook. not giving ya the power they claim they do. retail 2495. 00 for 100 lb ft. [they claim 200] vs 185 lb ft trq at less than 500 for an ez

I bought a used 01 in September that has the Dr P kit on it. It had no guages, and 241,000 miles pulling a goose neck trailer. I have put guages in it now, but it will get up to 1350 pre turbo on a long hard pull and 90 ambient temp. I called the Dr. and he could'nt tell me what was done without the pickup or the owners name. I have since found the owner and he tells me that it has a stage II plus. The previous owner travels around the US promoting the kits along with his work. Mine has injectors, a reflash, ats manifold and dyno's 325 RWHP and 700 RWT.

That's all?? :( I bet the guy paid well over $2 G's to get those #'s... :{ :{ Better his money than yours, right? :D Oo.

Jkinke; Aren't you letting that turbo get a little too hot? thats pretty close to the meltdown point. If I'm not mistaken I was told that 1400 degrees is the melting point. When mine starts approaching 1250 I start backpeddling.

I only let it get up to 1300, I was just commenting that it had 240,000 miles without a pyro before I bought it, so I'm sure it was there many times before I got it. As soon as I got the pyro hooked up I pulled it hard, and down to 1600RPM just to see how hot it would get.
