Happy Birthday Big Saint

like the new Challenger and Camaro?

while at work today one of the docs overheard me telling a friend that i had to spank my six year old for telling a lie ...

he told me i should read Dr Spocks book for alternatives ...

i explained that i have never had to spank my 12 year old daughter (straight A's and involved in swimming and basketball)

and that this was only the second time i've had to spank my son, and that the next time he lies to me or his mother he will get it again ...

do i like it? nope ...

does my son understand why ... yes he does ...

part way through our discussion another doc (who spanks his boys) told us that Dr Spock's son committed suicide ...

is this true?

Late in his life, Dr. Benjamin Spock admitted he was not much of a father to his son. It seems he was mostly an absent father. When he was there, he was inattentive.

His books, taken as gospel my millions, were nothing more than his opinions with no real facts to back them up.

In other words, he was a sham.

nah ...

i work in PACU at a small hospital, we all get along pretty good ...

one canadian liberal orthopedic surgeon ... one northeastern liberal ob/gyn (guy who thought i shouldn't spank)

two local WV grown surgeons ... both staunch conservatives ...

keeps the workplace interesting for me ... a staunch conservative poop stir-er

really had a ball last week when i told the canadian lib that any DECENT country trusts its citizens enough to allow them to carry concealed handguns ...

Spare the rod, hate the child.

I have two girls that are close in age and can be trying. Very respectful, sweet, good hearted girls, but a challenge none the less. Spanking them isn't fun, but teaching them consequences for their actions will create less worries when they are older. Dr. Spock to parenting hits me like Atkins to dieting.

Time out all the time doesn't work, anyone that wants proof should go to Los Angeles and spend a week with my Aunt's 3 terrors.

I got spanked as a kid--my Pop spanked us several times for destructive or dangerous stunts we pulled... like the time we threw two of his brand new trailer tires (freshly mounted on rims) on the trash pile and set fire to them just to watch them burn! Boy they sure made a LOT of smoke! When he found out, he didn't get angry, he just explained to us that he was going to have to spank us for that, and he promptly turned us over his knee and did so. He spanked us thoroughly but not sadistically and I never held it against him that he did that. Spanking sure didn't hurt me, in fact I am DAMM glad he spanked me for that, it made me a better person.
