Would it be of a benefit to launch in 4 wheel and then pull into 2 while drag racing. What are the power limitations of the transfer case, front driveline and axle???

I don't think it will come out of 4 unless you let of the throttle, which obviously you don't want to do dragracing! I'd just leave it in!

I'd leave it in, but it should come out without getting off the throttle, I think. My 03 did. I shifted of of 6wd when shifting into 4th gear. As for power capability, I would post this question in the competition section. They may know a bit more. I know I ran iver 500hp to mine and neverhurt anything. We'll see how long the 06 holds up!

My transfer case will not disengage (the lever will, but not the t-case) from 4x4 until I left off or hit the brakes. Also I can break the tires loose on a 2-3 shift if it is in 2 wheel drive. Just put it in 4x4 and leave it there. Take it out after the finish line, so you can make the turn off the track. I have over 600 1/4 passes on my truck, and no problems with the t-case yet.

Yes, shift out of 4HI after the 1-2 shift. Front axle doesn't unlock under load, but the Tcase will.

Ummmmm, Keith... . who the ... would launch in 1st gear?????

I have done a full pass in 4HI and I had my highest terminal velocity in that mode - 92. 1 MPH. That's with a 2nd gear launch and without skipping any gears.

If you were shifting, wouldn't you have come off the throttle? Putting the clutch in would have the same effect. Mine will never shift out of 4wd if I have any torque on the driveline.
