Must be someone here thats had an analysis done on Rotella 5x40 synthetic. How did the numbers look and is 10,000 to far to go? What have you all come up with for drain intervals for the stuff? Change the filter at 5,000 and drain at 10,000 is what I'd like to do.

I use Amsoil most of the time in everything, but found this for $13 a gallon and couldn't resist.

Right now I have 5,000 miles on the Rotella synthetic, but before I change the filter I'd like to here from someone. Hate to put a new Fleetgaurd on and have everyone say to drain it. Thanks ~~ DW

I have had several analyses done on Rotella Syn and they have all shown good results, but I normally change mine at 8k miles or so.

Here were my latest results at 8100 miles:

Aluminum 2

Chromium 2

Iron 13

Copper 1

Lead 1

Tin 0

Molybdenum 1

Nickel 0

Manganese 0

Silver 0

Titanium 0

Potassium 2

Boron 1

Silicon 2

Sodium 2

Calcium 3962

Magnesium 6

Phosphorus 976

Zinc 1107

Barium 0

Rotella Syn isn't a true synthetic but rather a highly refined dino oil. When I ran Delo syn, which is also dino oil, my Chevron dealer told me most folks were changing at 20k.

I average about 9k miles a year (I know I should get out more) and I usually change out once a year with a filter change about 3 times a year. Haven't had an analysis, but the fluid sure looks better than the straight Rotella after a 5k change.
