drained tc(DTT) an what looks like a bb came out?????????
pulled the plug on my tc to drain it an what looks like a little silver bb came out, any one know whats up with that? its a dtt trans. also what brand of fluid is good for it?
not sure on what the ball is. Dtt uses a lot of royal purple in atf+3. But I was told that we could use the brand of our choice just not +4... too many friction modifiers. I am running valvoline Dexron/Mercon III. It was put in when it was installed and after calling dtt they told me why. D/M has harder more aggresive shifts and so it is used by some installers to show real potential of these trannies. They also said that many that tow notice a slight shudder in the converter with the D/m, but i haven't yet. The shudder seems to only happen in Dodges and only some people get it. Thought about switching to amsoil later but was told i would have to use their "racing" blend b/c it doesn't contain friction mods. Don't know if i will b/c it is $7 a quart... ouch. good luck
If you have a DTT Trans and found something questionable in the pan or fluid you should be contacting Bill K. as he will give the best reply - it is after all his product. It's been my good experience to speak with Bill and other folks associated with him, his/their customer service/understanding is beyond reproach and should be the standard for other service companies to model themselves after. Give DTT a call.
IT SAYS IN THERE BOOK never USE DEXTRON III . an i called before i found the bb an tyhey told me to use only atf+3. maybe dtt will chime in here, i have a new gov. press. sylinoid an fluid goin in today. i bought coastal atf+3 it is hard to find u can only find dextron / mercon i went to three stores
Torque converters are furnace brazed. If it is brass, it could be nothing more than a drop of braze that didn't get flushed out when the converter was built. I can't immagine a bearing or check ball getting into the converter without other carnage and performance problems.
sorry about the fluid stuff... . just what my installer put in and dtt said its ok as long as i don;t have shudder problems. I will more than likely switch to the +3 b/c that is the overall concensous. Didn't want to start any problems with what kind to use. Glad your truck is ok Oo.
