Just curious... I just ordered a new drainplug from Genos. There were two plugs, one for '94 -'01 truck and one for '89-'93 and '02 trucks. I was wondering what they changed on the drainplug in '02 to make it not the same as the '94-'01. Is there a differnet oil pan on '02 trucks?

I am not positive but I think the 02 drain plug will fit on the 94-01 trucks the 02 just incoperates the sealing washer into the drain plug itself. If you are familiar with the drain plugs that Dodge uses on their engines where there is a rubber washer built onto the head of the drain plug that is what the 02 Cummins drain plug is.

No, the 02 oil drain plug is a different size. The 01 and earlier plugs have a larger diameter and will not work with the 02's.

Did you get the NEW super plug with the built in Magnet?, or the older heavy duty one with the "Add on" magnet? I have had both, i love the new version, although you need a massive socket to put it on which warrants a 1/2 drive torque wrench.

Yeah, I got the new one with the built in magnet. It was $21. 95. I haven't had any problems with my existing plug (always torque to 44 ft/lbs like the manual says) but I figured if everyone else is getting new plugs that I need a new plug (I'd hate to have the problem when I'm lying under the truck in the AZ heat pi$$ed off that it won't hold oil because of a bum plug)... I sure hope everyone doesn't decide to jump off a bridge because I'd be through. :D

I noticed Geno's says to torque to 40 ft/lbs. Is this what everyone does, or do they use 44? It probably doesn't make much of a difference and I have a 1/2" torque wrench so I should be all set.
