drb3 scanner question

I am thinking of purchasing A drb3 scanner. What is the latest vehicle year that you can use the drb on? Do I need a certain card for the CTD? Any other hardware? Will a snapon modis scanner work well on diagnosing engine problems?

The DRB3 will work up to 05 CTD,no card needed from 98-05

The star scan only works with 06 and newer trucks.
